I think my cousin recently had one. They used a party popper. I guess right! Of course, I couldnt go. Im halfway across the country. But I did get to see a video. And before many of the other family members... I even saw it before my grandma. And shes always talking to my cousins mom. I thought she would have known, tbh...

Also, not all gender reveal parties are dangerous. Just the ones that use dangerous ways to reveal it. For example, my cousin just used a party popper with big colored confetti inside. And it wasnt too hard to clean up, IIRC...

I wouldn't have one for my kid. If they turned out to be trans I wouldn't want that to have a negative impact on them. But if I got invited to one I would almost certainly go. People will find whatever excuse they want to have a party. As long as it's a good party I don't care about the theme. Assuming, of course, it doesn't cause a devastating wildfire. That could happen with any theme in irresponsible and careless hands though.
When I was living in Sierra Leone, the smallest achievement or victory could turn into a party. Some of the really festive parties could go for three days straight with constant dancing and some participants not sleeping at all throughout. Gender reveal parties aren't a thing there for two big reasons: lack of robust prenatal care and they just haven't heard of them yet. I have no doubt they could be included in the flourishing party culture there though. ... Copied to Clipboard!

Yes. One of the few things both the left and right agree on being terrible. Basically it's a party to announce that your baby is a boy/girl. The only problem is that, instead of say a blue/pink cake, the people get REALLY crazy and do shit like set off fireworks displays resulting in wildfires or other crazy shit. At best they're an annoying trend done mostly by the well-off who can afford to throw a party for something like finding out their child is a boy/girl. Realistically they're crazy shit that causes massive amounts of harm by trend-chasing snobs.
