Her removal from the post also comes the same day that John Barsa's term as acting administrator of the agency expires under the Federal Vacancies Reform Act, and sources believe that she was fired so he could remain at the helm. Barsa, a political appointee who was previously assistant administrator for USAID's Bureau for Latin America and the Caribbean, became acting administrator in April following Mark Green's departure from the agency. Under the law, Barsa could serve as acting administrator for only 210 days after the post became vacant unless a permanent replacement was nominated. Those 210 days expire Friday at midnight. However, with Glick gone, sources believe that Barsa can take over the second-in-command job in an acting capacity.

Another source at USAID told CNN they also suspected this could be the case. However, nothing has been communicated to agency personnel about these changes, or who will be leading the agency that oversees America's international development and humanitarian efforts.

At this point, I wouldn't be shocked if the media refused to call the election until December 14th when the Electoral College actually meets. And even then they'd probably wait for the full count even after Biden hits 270.

It's good Dems didn't get the Senate because packing the court would have been insane. Also keeps the president in check some.

That said, no idea what your infatuation is with that guy. He looks like probably 10% of the people I know around here. Lol

The Republicans already packed the courts. They stalled positions that people elected Obama to fill and then packed the courts once they took the presidency. Hell, I won't be surprised if they do the same thing now.

Manchin and Sinema both wouldn't vote for court packing, at the very least. That was never a worry. Like LotM said, we'd need like 55 senators for that.

I don't think they would have either, but now that it's off the table and the extreme liberals can stop clamoring for it and causing more division across the nation regarding it this is probably better in the long run. I don't think Manchin or Sinema would have gone for it. But, at least now we don't have to hear about it forever.

I think there is things they can get thru that they want like legalization of marijuana and some other projects, especially cuz the President is a moderate. However, it is good there is a check there which retains the filibuster from the more partisan extreme liberal ideas.

It does, but even in the absolute worst case for Collins relative to Trump (give Trump all non-Biden votes, give Collins all non-Gideon votes) she still outperforms Trump's margin by 4% (and that includes giving Trump 1% from Hawkins and giving Gideon 1.7% from Max Linn, the guy who cut up a mask during one of the debates). With actual reallocation it probably drops to somewhere around 10%.

So I'm confused where we stand in Arizona if I'm being honest. Somehow numbers were added to the total remaining on the election tracker that was posted earlier and Trump went from needing like 62% of remaining votes to 57%. He had good drops after that, but Maricopa came in at only 54.8% Trump, which should be good for Biden but now I'm not positive.

Lead is only 29,861. That still seems possible if the numbers on the site are right, but again no clue if they are or not. This could be another one heading for a recount.

As the day goes on I've been talking to people, and I do kind of understand that it would be a little hypocritical to tell them to call now while they're counting, regardless of the odds.

But man those odds.

You know it's basically over when we aren't really worried about whether AZ flips or not.

I believe the AP's standard is out of automatic recount territory and greater than 99.5% certainty (the latter of which is definitely fulfilled already), so we'll see what happens when his lead passes 0.5%
