apollo justice is indeed even worse than AAI1, in terms of characters/plotline. it might be slightly shorter, especially the final case, but the last two cases are worse in quality than AAI1's (and most people other than me dislike 4-2 as well)

AAI2 is excellent, and AA5 and AA6 are closer to the original PW trilogy than to AA4

DD and SOJ have a different director than most AA games and there is a definite tone change with DD and SOJ. Both games are pretty good though. I'd say most people have SOJ and AAI2 around the same level of prestige as the original trilogy.

Oh yea

Kay

talking about her also leads to another discussion, but lets do one thing at a time

I honestly did not think she would be this involved

I mean, I figured she would be a main character. But I actually thought this game was nothing but Edgeworth and Gumshoe busting heads

I didn't think SHE would be your partner a bunch of times.

She was....just okay. because of the writing, I could not really see her anything more than just...Ninja Maya because of the way she babblings on about irrelevant crap in an attempt to be funny

I DID think her interactions with gumshoe were really sweet. AND I did like how they reinforced Gumshoe is a good man.

but heres the thing. The partner system was useless.

I was even told by someone early on you literally don't need to talk to them at all. You know how at the start of each case in the OT, you and maya are just standing around in the office and you two compare notes. Its just that but it follows you around. Which is fine, but its weird they introduce this new "system" ...just for that >_>

infact, IT WAS PROBLEMATIC

in this last case, I decided to look at what the partner had to say, and one of the options was "Agitated Alba"

it turned out, I had 3 pieces of logic, and one of them...WAS AGITATED ALBA

.....BUT

it turns out, I HAD TO COMBINE THE OTHER TWO. I got penalized twice because I tried pairing AA with the other two.

The game FUCKING TRICKED ME

God damn PARTNERS

Apollo Justice isn't bad. It has one dumb thing at the end where you need to time travel but if you know that apollo justice can time travel it's not that bad. Plus hiimdaisy did some good comics to go along with it.

also, Little Thief

It was kind of a cool way to build upon cases and add more layers to it

but like....they both used it too much AND used it too little

Everytime she pulled it out, it WAS unique, but I was just like...."ugh...they're padding out the case now"

but at the same time, if you went through the trouble of making this new thing to open up a door of possibilities...then if you look at how many times it was ACTUALLY used, it was kind of too little. Ya know

I KNOW I'm being unreasonable here, believe me

but again, it just goes back to them seemingly just botching the landing with their ideas.

yeah kay is enjoyable but there is certainly a feeling of "the game just likes having a peppy young girl interacting with an older man" to her existence.

AAI2 has kay returning with better little thief segments. it also introduces a legitimately cool minigame that may lessen some of the ridiculous cross-examination logical jumps, imo.

It's not time travel. It's a computer simulation.

Which still sounds dumb with no context but yeah

It wasn't TOO far of a leap

Hmm honestly I think you are kinda overreacting. AAI is fine imo
Never found it too difficult either so I am not sure why you hated it so much :|

Eh, it's really hard to remember the logic leap in cases. It's really only something that comes up on the first time you play through the game. I remember the E-3 issue with the 2 costumes was a dumb logic leap, but not much else.

I think Little Thief is underutilized because Kay is underutilized. They only show up in E-3 and E-5 in the original game. That changes in AAI2.

yeah i don't remember this game (or AAI2) being any worse than previous games in terms of what you have to present. it's always been a little frustrating

My only real complaint about AAI is how much the final case dragged
It's a crime to humanity

AAI's last case does indeed go for *way* too long but I don't have any complaints about it otherwise. A middling entry for sure but it's far better than AJ. DD is excellent, though. Can't speak for SoJ, but I've heard great things.

It feels like they're just playing around with the format trying to figure it out in the first game. In the second game, they know what they want to do with it, and it's a much smoother experience as a result.

Oh yeah, something Pun should know is that both Dual Destinies and Spirit of Justice provide a log of what was said. So if you need to refer back to what was previously said, you can.
