I played the game again

we got invited to the Embassy and we learned ALOT of politics and shit concerning a country that got split into two

and one country loves Steel Samurai and the other loves Jammin Ninja

So a fire breaks out and fucking Kay takes off without Edgeworth

and OF COURSE shes framed for murder in that 1 minute timespan. These girls in these games man

we met the ambassador and we managed to prove she was at least NOT the killer, the handle was from the other country's embassy, not this one. Kay couldn't have made the trip there and back

Again, I think I overthink these things, but there was a point where the decisive evidence was the Documents I had

Shina was saying Kay was there to steal them and it was her goal all along

Franny had one of the pages and the other two were in the super secret safe

My line of thinking was, Franny had one. Theres no way that could've been the goal since they were not ALL originally there

but the evidence does say ANYTHING about that

that was the still answer for the exact same reason. I dunno man, that wasn't as dumb as other points in the game, but I figured the evidence would have to say this stuff

There was one where I had to prove the significance between the flower and the butterfly in context to the embassies

I had a brochure but the thing isI did not realize it Status screen for it had a SECOND page which actually goes into detail about the country's symbols. I found out pretty quick but I was like, damn you game

so yea, thats where I'm ag

I'm still suspicious of the Ambassador of Babahl, but we also established that the fireplace in HIS office has a secret door and it was used that night. Gumshoe also revealed he saw Shina come out from next door

it feels like you're constantly fighting the game itself

Not only do you have to use logic to solve the case, but you have to start apply outside logic to the logic

like, you have to figure out what the GAME wants, not solve the mystery itself

by outside, I mean like, game mechanics
"would we really use this here?
I just used this piece of evidence, I don't think it'll make me do it twice"

My memory of what happened is a blur because I streamed twice as long as usual since I was trying really hard to beat it

So we have to stop the smugglers now instead of waiting for the next game, despite every plot line being wrapped up, because reasons

but the old guy is like "Nah"

then Lang shows up and ls like FRANZISKA KILLED THE MASK GUY

I got stuck on a certain part because I forgot to inspect the hair sticks after Yew gave them to Kay

they had some dirt on them

I would've figured out they were used for gardening sooner if I had known that

but THEN we find out they were actually crossbow bolts

THEN we found out they transported the statues by using a complicated rotary pullies using the ceiling fans

wtf

I got stuck here too because I actually FIGURED thats what they did, but I presented the wrong statue

then we determined yea, the old guy is the accomplice

he transformed into MILITARY MAN and its all arrogant and cocky

long story short

I thought we were gonna nab him, but he KEPT THE GAME GOING AND THE FUCKING CHAPTER ENDED

So THATS Why I was like "I'm gonna keep streaming"

so we started cornering him some more, we find out that he had the murder weapon on him in a bouquet

i've probably said these things many times

but, at least from what I recall

each game has a part thats really dumb, makes you take a weird jump of logic, or just a part where you get stuck and you overlooked one small detail

but, it happens like, once per game

Some are my fault. I'm like "Oh, I didn't see that part, mah bad"

but the point is, it KEEPS happening.

Like, this is the 5th game in the series? I know. I get it

They're not gonna keep babying you. If you're playing this game, you're experienced at this point. You're in for the long run. Theyre hitting the ground running

but I just feel like, they screwed it up, ya know?

This game was just...not fun.

The game DID give me an appreciation for Edgeworth. I actually didn't like him that much in the OT, but this game definitely is a study of how he operates and how he thinks. I liked what I saw.

He has ALWAYS been a catcher's mitt for jokes and comedy. but the game kept taking me out of it when HE was CONSTANTLY in on the comic relief

they just didn't let up on it. I LOVE the comedy of this series! I SWEAR
but like "Hmmm, looks like theres some blood here..

I can agree with your issues with AAI writing. Edgeworth as the protagonist changes the writing in a weird way and I don't think AAI2 fixes it either. I didn't think it was a big problem when he guest starred in 3-5...maybe it's just because he's so much of the focus in AAI.

I think general consensus has AAI is mediocre. Not as bad as AJ, but most cases are average with the finale case peaking way too early. AJ is...hm. There's at least one major issue in every case and it definitely has a lot of really dumb story beats.

AAI2 is really good though...!

Yeah, part of the problem with the AAI games is that Edgeworth is just TOO smart. It's harder to challenge him in a way that doesn't feel kinda cheap, so I think that's why they have him busting international crime rings. Plus, he's just not an emotional guy, so I think it's difficult to write him when he's the viewpoint character.

AAI2 is better in almost every way though.

Theres a very slight comparison to Phantasy Star

PS2 is one of the worst RPGs I've ever played and I think I'm known for thinking that now

I know this is a moot argument since I already went through this game, I can enjoy AAI2. But damn, I'm just....so tainted now. and I will NEVER make someone go through Investigations, even if I2 is the best ever

And AJ is not great either?

People in the stream ALSO told me they have a hard time playing Spirit of Justice too. and I think one of them said they didn't like DD either

This series doesn't seem worth it anymore. I'll always have the OT, but its probably time to shelve it (at least for me)

DD and SoJ are generally considered good games, so those are minority opinions. AJ and AAI1 being bottom tier games is a pretty common take.

And AAI2 is worth pushing through the first game for.
