It doesnt really mean anything. Indictments are a joke. Something like 99% of the stuff that comes across the desk is indicted. There's no way this will move forward.

I'm 99% sure that isn't true, but I'm also terrified of what'll happen to my search history if I start googling things like "What % of allegations end in an indictment?"

The idea that cuties, objectionable as it may be, has no serious artistic merit is patently false. It's a nonstarter. I think it's possible the children in this movie had their rights violated, but that's a matter for French courts.

The outrage around this dumb movie has gotten it way more attention than it likely deserves and has actually only served to inform far more pedos about it, who honestly probably wont even want to watch it because they can just find sicker shit on the internet.

Its on Wikipedia so I'm pretty sure you're not going to jail for googling indictments.

The indictment rate is about 9899%; the grand jury can broaden (about 1% of the time) or narrow (about 3% of the time) the counts in the indictment as well.

"artistically" is the problem though.....artists and pedophiles tend to hide behind that notion just to fulfill their base desires.

If the point of Cuties was to prove the pressures of young girls being over-sexualized in Western Culture, I'm sure there are several millions of way to convey that message, without actually over-sexualizing the children in the movie in the first place......but the director and Netflix sexualize them anyway.... A true "artist" could've used subtlety to convey that message, instead of creating a frontline assembly of "groomed children" to spoon-feed aspiring pedos.

...they got them 'twerking'. The whole point of the 'twerking' dance move is to get the men to imagine what it's like to see the twerker riding him reverse cowgirl style using the same moves. Where is the 'artistic merit' when you get 11 year old girls doing the same thing...?

The argument is that what does and doesn't have "serious literary, artistic, political, or scientific value" as it's stated in Texas Penal Code 43.262 and within the Miller Test for Obscenity has some established legal precedent. Given that Cuties was shown at a respected film festival and is now an award winning picture puts a lot of barriers in place, there's going to be a lot of material for a defense to argue the serious artistic value of the work as those words are understood within the law.
