Which ones are you surprised by? I feel like a majority of those characters are pretty well known and decently respected.

Like my character I was most surprised by was Kain but then he went out a couple contests ago so

I enjoy Vivi's consistency and 7's complete inability to follow-up.

Yuffie surprises me, I know FF7 is FF7 but why her of all people. And the 6 overload is interesting, I hadn't noticed 6 being particularly strong since I started taking part this year. Also surprised Kefka and Rydia aren't on the list, and I just realised that the games after 10 wouldn't have been out yet when this thing started. Man this has been going on a long time, huh?

Edit: Also Sephiroth and Terra almost went out this year and I don't remember anyone being too shocked!

Rikku isnt inherently suprising but I'd have guessed Auron and maybe Yuna before Rikku if I knew nothing

Yuffie and Edgar round out the others who I maybe wouldn't guess first, moreso Edgar than Yuffie but I've never understood the 6 fandom. The others are all the leads and Vivi

6 isn't strong, but it has enough holdouts to keep the big guns afloat

Kefka was on there until recently too. Rydia actually got last once!

There's plenty of 21/22s. A rando hard boot along the way or they weren't included in the first contest. Faris was a hard boot in XIV, Sabin in XVI, Auron XIX, Kain XX, Yuna XXI. Kuja and Laguna missed first contest, Rydia 60/60 in V so missed the next contest. Probably more. and Kefka is a 19/22 it seems (missed I, V, XIX).

I'll never understand Yuffie love either but if, in Remake Pt. 2 she gets characterization like Belle in Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers I will be 100% all about that Yuffie.

Seph has to be the weakest ECC, right? I wouldn't be surprised if he dropped next.

I don't know about 11, but 12 didn't come out until contest 9. 11 has been such a non-entity that I want to ask FFD if one of those 11 characters was his doing like Luneth is.

This is going to be a stupid question, but as someone thats new to this, whats a hard boot? I keep seeing booted in contest histories for characters when theyre out, and I have no idea how thats any different!

nah the 11 characters were raytan in the pre-nomination era, at inviso's behest I believe

furries and whatnot

Yuffie did get a little bit of exposure from KH if anything else and has a pretty neat design

I'm honestly surprised she's never been in a Character Battle

Also there was a glut of IV and VI in the first contest and some really odd choices for certain characters (Amarant over Kuja, Relm over Kefka) in the first contest

Well, he would occasionally ask for...suggestions in other places prior to that.

Oh yeah, that's how I know it was still going on in CXI, I checked the archive!

But yeah, it was ultimately his decision, but he would take arguments. I argued for Zack for three contests before raytan finally put him in for example!
