Not watching the stream, just keeping tabs to find out if Sony's actually arrogant/greedy/evil enough to price the optical drive version of PS5 at like $100 or more than the digital only model.

Actual cost on an industrial scale shouldn't be more than $50 difference. But we all know these companies want to expunge used games from the market.

Holy fuck, Sony actually did it?

They got Xbox's homework a week in advance and STILL price matched the XSX with their disc version and made it a $100 difference?

Fuck, next gen is already doomed. Guess I'd better invest in a gaming PC, the consoles outside of Nintendo are dead to me. What arrogant bastards. How dare console gamers, many of which choose it over PC specifically due to wanting to own physical media, expect a fair price for that preference?
I always feared consoles would one day go away. Never thought the console makers would gleefully obsolete themselves, though.

Getting the disc version but probably not in the first year.

Most looking forward to REVIII, FFXVI, and God of War: Ragnarok! I probably won't get a PS5 for a while though. I just got a PS4 and I'm working my way through all the games there I've missed.

GoW: Ragnarok? This is the first I'm hearing about it, and I'm just so happy. GoW on PS4 was the best gaming experience I've had in years. It's good to know that if I live long enough to see this game, then I will certainly have a great time playing it.

Yeah it was just a very short teaser with no gameplay or cinematics, but the new God of War game is the best PS4 game I've played so far (I've only played about a dozen PS4 games so far tbf), so I'm very much looking forward to that one. I think it said 2021 on the teaser too, so not too much longer to wait. It might even sell me on a PS5 early depending on how much of my PS4 backlog I work through before then!

Nice. Yeah, I don't think I'll be buying a PS5 until there's a game that I specifically want to play on it. I can't imagine buying a console with no particular game in mind. In the end, it's the games that make us play, not the console. So far GoW:R is the first one I've heard of that would be a definite seller for me.

Especially for digital, which they are actually selling systems that can only play digital at this point. It's crazy the cost for them has gone up, not down.

I could see .....maybe........increasing the cost for hard copies to $70 and keeping digital at the same price.....that would make some kinda sense, but upping digital copies?

It's another reason console games are not gonna compete with PC games very well. You can wait a bit and get a pc game often on steam for 50% off (or wait longer for 75%), and pay 20$ or less for the same game you woulda paid $70 for on a console (Borderlands 3 for instance recently but basically most games released on consoles these days).

Even if the game isn't on pc (rare), there are usually a ton of other games like it there anyway.
