It depends on the circumstances and events that led to this modern civil war.

Assuming that its for reasons involving the upcoming election and the winning candidate, I'd be on the side of Donald Trump, the current president. Biden winning would not be the best choice for America, as a country.

Robot Thor was Civil War 1.

With Civil War II, Cap was mostly out of it. It was mainly a split between Carol Danvers and Tony Stark over whether or not it was acceptable to use a psychic Inhuman who can predict pre-crime a la The Minority Report to arrest people before they actually did anything wrong, to prevent them from doing that thing in the first place.

Captain Marvel was part of the "Arrest everyone, fuck due process" side, while Iron Man accurately pointed out that as far as they knew the precog wasn't 100% accurate in the first place and even if he was, it was kind of bullshit to imprison people without trial for something they didn't actually do (and may have had no conscious intent to do in the first place). And you can read whatever ham-fisted attempt at political commentary you want into that.

It was mostly shit and kind of terrible.

Much like with Minority Report there's an obvious error with precog crime... and that's if they detect any crime at all, then they should know they've already failed as a system.

If there was a civil war, BLM wouldn't be a side. The movement isn't big enough or devoted enough to go to war, even if a disturbing number of participants advocate the use of violence (or outright use violence) to silence critics. America's civil war, just like its revolutionary war, was led by government leaders who could mobilize substantial numbers of the general population. We're not terribly likely to ever see those conditions again.

Now one of the recurring themes brought up by shitlords is the prospect that there's a "concern" that a president won't step down at the end of their last term (which was said about GWB, Obama, and Trump). However, even in that kind of an instance, the president isn't going to have the kind of pull to actually make that work. The only way an elected leader can stay in power is if they have the complete support of the military and enough politicians willing to go along with it to intimidate the rest.

The unfortunate thing about this scenario is how many families and friendships would be broken-up, not to mention record unemployment, doxxing, looting, assaults, and just overall chaos. You think things are bad now, with riots in a few cities, or were bad at the start of the pandemic with the riots and looting? This would be catastrophic.

Let's be honest here. If there's a civil war II it will be decided not by what us civilians pick but, rather, by which side the military joins. The military will almost certainly support the current leader unless said leader does something stupid like, say, order gunning down of innocents in the streets as well. So which side you'd 'pick' is effectively meaningless because you're social justice ideas or nationalistic fervor aren't gonna be able to best a fighter jet.

Spot-on, as usual. No matter who wins in November, there will just be a lot of dispute, ballot-recounting, rage, and disappointment, not to mention possible loss of stock value.

The real question is how much ammunition do they have. You can have a boatload of guns, but if you don't have ammunition to replenish, those guns will only be good for melee.
