Publicity stunt to gin up support for the Democratic ticket. They propose a ridiculously generous plan. If the Republicans vote against it, they can point out that Republicans stopped this ridiculously generous thing from going through. If Republicans go along with it, they blame Trump for ballooning the deficit. It's transparent as fuck but, because America's voting public is generally idiotic, people will buy it.

If you gave 12k to every one of the 260 million american citizens over the age of 17 (adults). It would only cost about 3 trillion dollars, about as much as the last stimulus bill actually. It's right around how much would have gone to each american if the last bill had just flat out done that and nothing else.

I guess in general my suggestion is a UBI for everyone making less than 50k a year (or currently unemployed due to loss of work (not unemployed due to being freaking rich), of $1000 a month until the virus is done, but a bonus of $200 in addition to that if you are currently working 20 hours or more a week (as an incentive to work and a bonus for risking oneself in the current landscape.

This would incentivize going back to work, while still ensuring everyone could survive if they can't get a job, or it is unsafe for them to do so.

In addition to that the whole halt all rent related costs (rent/mortgages/property taxes) to ensure everyone has a place to stay for now, and money for food/expenses. This could work perpetually till we get things under control.

While it would cost alot to maintain that, we could almost do a whole year of that for the amount of mony spent in the last stimulus package, and hopefully it wouldn't take even nearly that long.

Hey, I'm not saying that had to be done, I'm saying it would have been a better way to spend the money then was already done. They already spent 3 trillion in the last package but everyone only got 1.2k.

As far the future, I think if you did something like that for only a few months you'd get everyone back to work, stimulate the econmy, get alot back in taxes (Especially in the future), and hopefully squash the virus. It's not perfect, but I bet it would work better than what we have done so far.

maybe people arent qualified for those jobs, or dont live in the area, or can only do certain types of work, maybe some of those jobs wont even pay enough to cover basic necessities, maybe some of those jobs just fucking suck

just because youre mad that you have to go to work doesnt mean everyone else has to be as miserable as you seem to be

The problem is you if you think that means anything. Many people still have trouble finding jobs on those site. First of all, it has to be close enough for the to travel. Depending on their mode of transportation, it could be too far. Then, many of the jobs have requirements. It could be time spent in a similar job, or a degree or certificate of a certain kind, or even a special license like a CDL. Then they would still have to hire you over the many other people trying for the position. I mean, I think a lot of people are out of work. So, a lot of people may be trying to find a job. Not only that, but people are going to be looking for a job that actually matches their hours, and pays enough for what they need to live...

My freaking health insurance tried to put my on disability, they even filled out the paperwork, but I was able to stop the process. I'll work as long as I can even if I have to only be a teachers assistant or something (or work from home). Wish you the best man.
