This Cancel Culture which has developed is dangerous and antithetical to American society and tradition. It is solely meant to silence any thoughts/expressions/voices which do not agree with the complainer. People are allowed to debate, have different views, and yes... even be racist to others. That is what Freedom of Speech protects.

Dislike what they said.... respond to them directly. Call them out on their timeline. Challenge their beliefs with yours. You have no proof they act in any racist/unprofessional way when at work. If that surfaces at their place of employment it is thier employer who needs to deal with it, not you.

The company got back to with the general we are so disappointed in the behaviour we have sent your message and screenshots to management. Deepest apologies etc etc. They did say theyd send a follow up email in a few days with more information. I hope they stick to it.

It's really not that hard to not be a shithead online or at least not do it with your personal info plastered right next to the shitposting

So super fair next. My favorite instances of this are on random shared articles on LinkedIn where the only detective work you have to do is click on a name, but most of the people I'm connected to either directly or through other people tend to not have brain damage so it's not a common occurrence

I'll take a moment to be honest with you here, because I'm feeling a little morose today. Unless its about video games I like, maybe half of my posts here are sincere. If that. Or maybe you could say I'll post in half-truths.

I spent years on this site posting genuine, honest opinions in the Politics, Religion, WoT, etc boards. But eventually I stopped caring about that, because arguing on a dying message board is a dumb waste of time, because it never influences anyone, and I only still post here out of familiarity and boredom.

So, now I usually post whatever I think might be most entertaining to me at the time. I usually put very little actual thought into my posts and generally I barely even remember what I'd said a few days before, without looking it up. So, I don't really keep track of whatever reputation I have here.

Was he acting as a representative of the company while saying these things?

If no, then no you shouldn't try to get people fired for wrongthink.

And let's be honest, you didn't do this because you were worried about his effectiveness as an employee, you did this because he said something you found offensive and you wanted to use the internet to punish him

If he's fired, in 1 week you will move on and for months he might still be hugely struggling because of your actions.

But I bet you still feel justified in the assumption that a single post on social media is representative of the entire breadth of his character as a human.

I honestly can't tell what point you're trying to make.

My point is that I don't think it logically tracks to say "he deserves it because he posted it on facebook". Because none of what is apparently upsetting about it is derived from where were he said it but presumably that he believes it in the first place.

The logic for cancel bullies seems to be
"I hear something you say that offends me"
"I infer from that that you are a bigot"
"I enjoy punishing bigots"
"I can morally excuse myself for enjoying punishing bigots, because I place their perceived identity as a bigot as more important to me than the rest of their humanity"
"I use what you said to get you punished"

So if the inference is that they are a bigot, the medium or method for which their bigotness is uncovered should be irrelevant, yes? Whether it's a private DM to a friend or a twitter post, if you can infer from what they say they are a bigot, then punishing them is always fine, right?
