Did you read the PC Gamer interview he did a few weeks back? It was very weird, got into no details, and his PR people stopped him from speaking multiple times.

It's all just so interesting.

He's a former Twitch streamer who got banned for unknown reasons. It was speculated that there was something serious going down (he was panicking a lot during the end of his final Twitch stream) but we never found out what it was. He apparently is restarting his streaming on Youtube.

what's odd is that Giphy (owned by facebook, which isn't chummy with twitch) also removed all drdisrespect content from its platform

there's certainly an ongoing court case in the background, whether it's metoo, pedo-style, or something boring like tax evasion, and he figured he might as well continue making money in the meantime.

A lawsuit is dangerous. It would essentially be trying to call Twitch's bluff. If Twitch isn't bluffing, the real reason he got banned would likely come out and that's not necessarily good for him. My understanding is some people with inside knowledge have claimed there's a real reason and it's something they aren't comfortable revealing but I guess they could be bluffing as well.

Not that I think he's innocent, but it could just be that he thought his career was over with a Twitch ban.

More likely, I think this weird YouTube stream npoints towards him trying to grab some extra money for legal fees.

He said it without saying it. Lawyers are involved and it's a huge contract.

He claimed there was no communication before or after, just that he was told he was banned. It feels weird that he wouldn't just say why if he knew--it would be easier to create outrage behind your cause if there was a reason. If I were his legal counsel, I would say to just say why to get more pressure on Twitch. If it were something really bad and worth cutting his contract over, it's doubtful he would discuss it at all, and doubtful Twitch would've said something.

It's all bizarre and defies logic with how both parties are acting and it would be the actual dumbest thing if he were telling the truth about him not knowing.

Publicity stunts don't have to be well thought out but I imagine having to leave Twitch costs him far more than he could possibly gain from the stunt. I think he lost sponsors over this as well.
