Man if only The Devil is a Part-Timer or Nozaki-kun got a second season, then I'd be all for a lighthearted comedy winning. Then again maybe it's a good thing the latter didn't. It's hard to go out on a high note when the bar is set THAT high to begin with.

There's also Azumanga Daioh which uh... (shucks I can't remember which X-named saver liked it a lot [guessing Xuxon?]) I wouldn't be opposed to a serious Azu run, but that one I feel like I have to rewatch every other year to remember exactly WHY I like it so much. I used to have a box set of that floating around, but I either lost it or "lent" it to a "friend".

Pro-tip: Never lend physical anime to friends. You either spend forever waiting for them to feel like they have the time to watch it, or they lose it, or they watch it and lend it to someone else and either way you never see it again.

Alright, here's my anime queue which again, is more aggressively optimistic on getting around to (only watched Haruhi this year despite it winning 2 years ago, LotGH jumped the queue to be watched as the contest was ongoing...)

-From The New World
-Baccano & Girls' Last Tour
-Madoka & A Place Further
-Ergo Proxy
-My Hero Academia
-Monster (rewatch)
-Steins;gate
-Death Note (rewatch)
-Mob Psycho 100

So I'll take advice on two questions:

(1) The sequence to watch Baccano, GLT, Madoka and Antarctica in?

(2) .... I have so many series I both haven't watched and don't have in the watch queue (not even counting series that are overdue for a rewatch). I will accept any pitches or recommendations for shows to add after Mob Psycho 100 in the queue out of these:

Azumanga Daioh
Berserk
Big Order
Chrono Crusade
Ghost in the Shell - Stand Alone Complex
Gungrave
Inuyashiki
Ito Junji - Collection
Juuni Kokki
Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress
One Punch Man
Outlaw Star
Prison School
Rahxephon

I feel like I really should watch Berserk, and I feel like I would like One Punch Man, but damn.

GLT > Madoka > Antarctica

I don't dislike Baccano and it's worth watching, but I left it off that list anyway because using the correct number of ">"s after the other shows would make it seem worse than it is.

Based on how much liked them... Baccano > Antarctica > GLT > Madoka. Madoka is the most divisive. The other three are pretty well liked generally.

If I were to tier your second list...

Ghost in the Shell - Stand Alone Complex
Juuni Kokki

Gungrave
One Punch Man
Berserk
Azumanga Daioh

Rahxephon

Prison School
Outlaw Star
Chrono Crusade

Gungrave is probably higher than it should be because of nostalgia and I haven't seen it in ages. GitS is a top five series for me, and Juuni Kokki is excellent too. But it doesn't come to a satisfying conclusion. Maybe you'd like Black Lagoon? And I'll pitch Moribito - Guardian of the Spirit as a great fantasy series to any who care to listen

I really can't bear to add in new series until I work through those series, lol. Mostly because a new series may inevitably get watched immediately further delaying things (i.e. Goblin Slayer). Most of that list was picked up during my anime binge of 2006-2007 and the rest was in the past year or two. Azumanga and SAC were definitely 2007, I remember when I got them. Pretty sure they're both in .rm format, lol... may need to reacquire in better quality. And Gungrave, pretty sure I got that at the same time as Trigun. One got watched, one's been in storage ever since.

Juuni Kokki, I remember was another recommendation from Board 8 from the mid-2000s... I don't remember who recommended it around here, but since the Monster reco came through like gangbusters I picked it up too. Unsatisfying conclusion is a shame but hey, it's all about the journey sometimes!

Since you've also come through incredibly with LotGH I am adding in Juuni Kokki after Mob Psycho 100... and will look into SAC.

Actually have a funny anecdote, this is from last year's results topic:
Hoo boy, guess I was wrong on that one!

Can't complain too much with a Death Note win, it's a solid series. Pretty entertaining, but it's not outstanding enough to be what I want from a winner. One of my favourites will get it eventually! Once again plugging Mob: I genuinely can't imagine anyone disliking it. It's an incredibly entertaining show with some pretty deep themes but also amazing animation (I can't stress this enough), characters and concept. Bones' adaptation is an absolute treat.

Now, bold predictions!

A Slice of Life which isn't Kaguya will get top 10.
Both finalists will be edgy/darker shows again.
The bottom 10 will consist of shows nobody has heard of and at least one former finalist.

i think Xeybozn saved it more, but it's also one of my favorites. we seem to have pretty similar tastes. now that Monster and Death Note have won, it's probably the show with the highest sum total of "how much i want it to win" and "how much i think it could win." or maybe Madoka or Code Geass, though i don't like Madoka quite enough to go all-in on it.

really i should watch more shows. i'm almost positive i would like LotGH, and some others look good. Kaguya, Antarctica, Euphonium. i remember downloading LotGH last year and then the hard drive it was on broke and i still haven't replaced it. <_< just have a tiny SSD in my desktop now so i basically have to download on laptop and either watch it there or transfer to flash drive to watch on desktop.

Juuni Kokki is based on a series of books, and the anime just stops, but the journey is worth it. Who knows...maybe I recommended it. It's a pretty cool fantasy setting with good character growth from the main character

Also I disliked large stretches of Mob.

I never finished but episodes 4-8 or so of season 2 I did not like at all. With at least the arc in episodes 4 and 5 I'm comfortable saying it was just bad storytelling, though the stuff after is more based on personal preferences.

It was definitely me who backed Azumanga heavily. I'd like to see it make another run again someday, but it's really hard to justify pushing it myself when NNB would do better and I like them about the same. There's just too much overlap between those fanbases here to expect any help if I try to push both of them.

I'm perfectly fine with a Death Note winner. One of the things I did in like junior year of high school was getting a bunch of people into Death Note, so me backing it towards the end of the contest was sort of my way of honoring that.

Still haven't read that one-shot yet....

Now my biggest feat in the contest was pushing a Kirara series to the Top 20, probably won't happen again, but hey, I took the opportunity when it came!

I'd like to think that my reward for this was The Demon Girl Next Door manga getting brought over in English.

hmm i always thought Azumanga was more popular than NNB. i guess NNB did make like top 5 that one time and i don't think Azumanga everhas, but i think if we had switched priorities Azumanga could have done better.

Now that the 48 hour coronation ceremony is over, let's talk noms!

I feel like bumping the number of automatic entrants to 30 (and also reducing the number of nominations everyone gets by some amount) would be a nice start, with maybe further expansion in later years. The vast majority of things just get back in anyway, so this would effectively simplify future nomination periods while also reducing the likelihood that people nominate stuff just to use all their nominations.

It's a good feeling, like coming into a really popular contest and seeing your second favorite has won, but from experience I promise it would feel even better if you helped push it there! I've lost my chance with Balthier forever probably. On that note you joining or abstaining from smiffic this time around?

I think upping to 30 is a great idea personally, but I'm partially biased and I never use all my nominations anyway.

3rd place is often the graveyard of great, even better, options. LotGH here, Cloud in SMSB II... even Death Note in last year's SMFAS. Gotta play to win!

(Also I ran the numbers and laid out my analysis in last year's results topic - nailbiter based on regular voters, so Auron likely wins from pulling in casuals based on topic title)
