I barely have any games on my ps4 I'm done with consoles I think.

Unless one of the major companies makes another dedicated handheld, there's a strong chance I'll never again buy a console.

PS5 for sure due to the exclusives but probably not day one. I always mean to pick up Nintendos latest console but haven't got around to doing that so I won't hold my breath. The last one I bought was a WII when it was dirt cheap. One day I will though!

Edit: I also haven't bothered with buying a decent gaming rig. That's also something for the bucket list.

Probably Nintendo's, probably not any others. PC+Nintendo has been serving me very well since the Wii, and I don't see that changing any time soon. How quickly I'll buy the next Nintendo system will depend on what it actually ends up being, but I'll almost certainly get it eventually.

It gets the job done. It's not enough to last for the entirety of a major road trip or anything, but I usually don't have to worry about it dying before I can get it back to the dock.

Nintendo's the only decent one left, sadly.

Next gen will be the first time since before PS started that I won't a Sony console.

Once Nintedo inevitably succumbs to The Suck, I guess I'll have to learn to tolerate PC gaming...

None. Building up the Switch library and finishing off the 2DS library. I don't get every new console or handheld.every generation.

Given that the Switch came out so late, they could even skip a generation. It's not like they're really involved in the graphics race anyway so the idea of "generations" doesn't really apply that much to them.

Based solely on what we know right now, probably the PS5. Unless Sony announces something in the next year or two that is a massive clusterfuck of bullshittery or Microsoft pulls a minor miracle out of their ass (in other words, the exact reverse of what happened last time), I don't really see a need to switch this time around.

Okay, I lie. They had Eternal Darkness on the GameCube. Which, granted, wasn't enough to make me give enough of a shit to ever actually buy a GameCube, but it IS a "single thing". So my prior statement was only mostly true.

From what I've heard, the implication seems to be that there's actually going to be strong PS4 backwards compatibility, but I've also heard some people talking (maybe just being wishful) about limited PS1 or PS2 compatibility. Which would be ironic for you, but which would work out perfectly for me.

Xbox of course. I have a PS4 and a handful of games for it. I might actually never finish them as-is.

I'd expect it in 3-4 years, given that the Switch released in 2017. Nintendo's really not trying to maintain any sort of hardware parity with the other two (nor do they really need to, since hardware isn't really making significant advances anymore), so they have little reason to follow their generation schedules. 6 years is typical for a Nintendo generation, and I'd expect them to roughly stick to that (the WiiU was shorter because it did poorly, the Switch may be longer because it's doing well enough to not really need a replacement any time soon).

Unless the Dual Screen Switch brings it in terms of battery life, processor power (this current 30fps bs is ridiculous) and one hell of a launch line up I think BotW2 may be the last video game I ever play

Although I'm tempted to get an Xbox if the next Halo is somehow good and has split screen again.
I know Infinite is going to be on PC too, but it most likely won't have split screen support.

I'll eventually get the PS5 but I'm going to wait until there's an upgraded version and some essential games out on it.... Though I'll probably be a father by the time that happens so who knows if I'll even have time to game on the reg.

This is what I've thought, too. I know it seems greedy to want such immense backwards compatibility, but it just doesn't make sense for it not to be there.

Playstations have always used disks. The PS5 continues using Blu-ray, officially making that format the most commonly used format for Playstation consoles. There isn't a legitimate reason for complete backwards compatibility to not be a thing.

I just want to play my PS3 games without having to lug out my PS3 from storage.
