Carolina is firing on all cylinders - playing better than anyone else I've seen so far. Definitely wouldn't want to run into them in the first round (proper).

Currently camping but I see the Oil Hawks game is at 4-3 end of the second. Have the Oilers looked better than last game or is that score misleading?

Crawford has been a tad shaky throughout the season. He was almost getting back into form before The Pause but there's just no way he could be close to form after he's been recovering from covid.

Crawford was bad last night at everything.

Both goaltenders were bad at handling the puck last night, but he handed a goal away into an empty net.

The Oilers are the better team but are mistake prone. Crawford just has to do enough to give his team a chance and he didn't yesterday.

The Penguins firmly asserted the game 1 overtime was a fluke.

The Hurricanes, Islanders, Penguins, Oilers are pretty clearly better than their opponents when not making mistakes. I'd say the Predators are close to that discussion, and l suspect Vancouver will be more in their second period form today where they showed flashes of being above Minnesota.

If any team is sticking out to me right now, its Carolina. They are dismantling the Rangers in a series originally thought to be evenly contested. I think they will do it again tonight, and I wouldn't want to be the 3 seed that gets stuck playing them.

I also have a feeling.. If Toronto ever finally scores one, that one is going to multiply pretty quickly.

Muzzin goes down awkward, now being taken out on a stretcher. Might be a neck thing, but he's moving his limbs and doesn't seem to be in pain.

The silence is insane. With no people in the crowd it's the most quiet I've ever heard a broadcast.

The one stat of the Rangers/Hurricanes I would like to know is defensive zone giveaways. The Rangers played so badly in their own zone this series that it didn't matter who they had in net.

I slept through the nightcap this time. Well, at least I tried to. Looks like every series that didn't have an NY team started 1-1.

The Islanders played disciplined hockey and simply put pucks to the net on their decent opportunities in the game 1 and 2 wins. In game 3, their discipline evaporated, they took bad penalties, and they tried to be cute on offense. No one seemed to want to take a shot.

Game 1-2 Islanders is a scary team to face. Game 3 Islanders is an easy out. It'll to be interesting to see which one shows up next.

I am left with the same feeling I had after game 1.... How on Earth did Pittsburgh find a way to lose that game? Are they going to find a way to lose this series?

The Stars look really tame outside of that one burst against Vegas. I know little about that team though.

Honestly, as annoyed as I was when I first heard about the whole #1 pick going to a playoff team thing... the thought is kind of growing on me. I like the fact that we're basically guaranteed to see it go to a team that did not tank. I could maybe come around to the idea of something like "Best team to not make the playoffs gets #1, from there it goes down with worst team first" and so-on.

Yeah, Pittsburgh and Edmonton are definitely the two worst possible options. Chicago is also bad, but not nearly as bad as those two. Florida also bad because they're basically just Edmonton-lite.

One team I feel might be overlooked in this regard is the Rangers.

Lafreniere going to the Rangers sounds like a terrifying concept for the rest of the East. The Rangers are very young and a year or two from being a dangerous team as it is, and he'd fit in perfectly with their rebuild.

If a team like Columbus or Minnesota got him, I think everyone would just be ok with it. They're both teams that could use a little luck for once.

That was just....the worst. I'm not the least bit upset that I don't have to watch another second of that tepid, unmotivated garbage the Penguins called hockey over the past few days.

If the Penguins can't at least get to a Game 5 against the shitty Canadiens, I don't want to know how they would fare if they were to play a competent team like Boston. I'm actually relieved I don't get to see that.

Good riddance to 2020.

I've been a Leafs fan long enough to know that they'll likely win tonight and then choke a lead away in the final game.

I've gotten drunk before the game even starts to cover all my bases, though.

The Leafs and Predators are definitely the two teams at the top of a "most likely to choke a 3+ goal lead in the playoffs" chart. There isn't any reason to ever trust those teams not to bomb out.

The Blues were also there for a while, but not anymore. I feel like in the coming years we'll see Edmonton climbing up those ranks.

The more I see of Oilers/Blackhawks, the more I see two teams that are going to obliterate themselves with mental mistakes with the winner simply being the one who does it less than the other.

If Edmonton escapes this they should be happy with Dallas. Neither team looks like they have a chance of beating the other three.
