Well, I wouldn't mind another winger, but it certainly sounds like Fiala and Kaprizov are default top liners. At this point.

Not that I wouldn't welcome even more scoring depth. Lord knows Parise can't stay 1st/2nd line forever. They need a scoring centerman though. Staal kinda dropped a little, and Galchenyuk was NOT worth the 5 mil price tag. Kunin/Ek?...nah.

Not sure what the Wild would do even with Laffy. But then again, scorers don't grow on trees, and if any team has proven bereft of scoring talent consistency, it is them.

I want Toronto to win just as much as I want Pittsburgh and Edmonton to not, so any other result is also cool.

Okay, yesterday was literally 0 for 5 on teams I wanted to win actually winning, but we're 3/3 so far and I don't really care about Flames/Stars. I guessss I gotta root for the Flames as a Canadian team. Still a better day all-around!

Yeah, and the Bruins/Hurricanes played yesterday and today too. Since they run 5 games on some days we end up with 9 games in 2 days so a back-to-back develops. Here's some more up ahead:
-Colorado/Arizona 14-15
-Vegas/Chicago 15-16
-St. Louis/Vancouver 16-17
-None 17-18 (4 games each day)
-Montreal/Philadelphia 18-19
-Boston/Carolina 19-20 (AGAIN after this two-game set! Though 20th would be Game 6 so not yet guaranteed)
-None 20-21 (4 games each day)
-Columbus/Tampa Bay 21-22 (even though there's 4 games on the 21st, this series gets a back-to-back to give Boston/Carolina 2 days off before a theoretical Game 7 on the 23rd)
-Washington/New York 22-23 (would be Games 6 and 7, if necessary of course)

So every series gets hit by a back-to-back at least once, though Caps/Islanders only happens if it goes to Game 7 and others can be avoided with sufficiently quick elims.

BOS/CAR only had this back-to-back because of the 5OT game though

I wonder how late in the day becomes the official "delayed game" point, not sure if they officially stated that after that one. Like we only have 4 hours difference between Canucks/Blues (6:30) and Stars/Flames (10:30) tomorrow. I wonder if it's just a straight policy, like, "not done in 2OT = next game automatically delayed" or they have a hard and fast time, like if the game isn't done by 10pm then the next is delayed.

i think they said they need ~80ish minutes between games to get the dressing rooms cleared and disinfected in toronto

but yeah not sure what the latest possible start time is

Hmmm. I just read that Rogers Place has 6 dressing rooms so I assumed room turnover between games wouldn't be an issue? Maybe Toronto has less.

I was wondering about ice quality too and if they wanted more between-game time for that, if there's anything else done to the rink between games other than another run or two of the zamboni

One of the games I was watching had an intermission segment about the Toronto setup. They've got 4 dressing rooms there (Maple Leafs, Raptors, visitors, and a press room that has been converted into a dressing room).

The major issue Bruins/Hurricanes had was the quality of the ice being brutalized by the 5 overtimes I believe. They probably wouldn't have been able to start until past 11pm at best.

Calgary as a franchise has lost 10 consecutive game 2s. It seems we are on the way to 11.

The last half of the third period is why the Islanders are so terrifying to trail in the third period.

Washington spent over 3 consecutive minutes stuck almost entirely in their own zone just being harassed endlessly. Once the Islanders locked down, the Capitals had almost no offensive presence for the rest of the game.

It was a 3-2 game late with the Islanders pounding the Capitals in their own zone and not letting them out, getting a fluky triple deflection goal in the process, then adding an empty netter. It was not the game the score indicates it was.

After 4 goals in a bit over 4 minutes in the second, there wasn't any scoring until the very end.

The Blues played much better late in game 2. I think they're going to take at least two, and they just barely missed a game winner in OT.

He opted out less than two hours before the game with no warning after getting attacked for his whininess game 2. Had he opted out at a more reasonable time (not less than two hours before a game), I would feel less harsh. He feels like a child who basically said "Screw you guys, I'm going home." after the reaction to his game 2 comments, except he waited until leaving would have more impact.

I cannot remember the last time a hockey player actually made me mad, but I will probably never stop holding this against him, and I can't see myself ever wanting to see him win anything again.

The opt out is permanent, right? No way for him to "opt back in" some point down the line if it comes to that?

....who's the 3rd stringer for the Bruins, I'm already thinking about the Game 5-6 back-to-back and whether they roll Halak both days or not.

In any case, this fits with the "Fuck the Bruins" mantra for me, so... oh well!

Someone on the Atlanta Braves did opt back in after the season had already started, but the issue with doing it in the NHL is you'd immediately have to go into quarantine. If opting back in were possibly, and I do not know if it is, you'd still have at a quarantine of at least several days upon returning. It could easily be enough days to miss a series.
