*not his ass.

Anyways, I feel like since we just allowed restaurants to be open I'll let the early adopters get screwed.

Why pay $999 for a DVD player in like 1999 when if I just wait a littler longer I can spend $300 on a PS2 which also had one.

i just wanna wait and see if my lab rats die or what, and then i'll see if eating inside it worth it.

I haven't even ordered take-out or delivery since everything started. If you're trying to minimize transmission vectors for infection, having other people prepare or deliver your food probably isn't the best possible idea.

Granted, the odds of anything happening are minuscule, but if I'm already making the sacrifice of long-term self-isolation on a major level there's no real reason not to go the extra mile if you can. I'm at the point now where I really only leave the house once every 2-3 weeks to shop then go back to ground.

Sure, stuff may be opening up again, but none of it's anything I actually need to bother with. So my next few months aren't likely to be any different from my last few months. Especially since I'm not one of the people going stir-crazy insane from being cooped up for so long.

I'm pretty much keeping my head down until there's a workable vaccine that a sizeable portion of the population is going to have to get before I do.

I've had take-out once in the past 3 months.
I don't get people's obsession with it, although I am still hankering for some Chinese and probably won't get any until things return to "normal".

That was probably going to happen anyway, this whole mess just accelerated it.

People were pointing out 20 years ago (mostly in the context of Wal-Mart) that larger chains tend to slowly strangle smaller businesses simply by existing, especially in the US were customers will cut your balls off for even tiny savings (and with studies done that indicate customers will almost always choose cheap and convenient over quality, let alone more nebulous factors like supporting local business). The more larger chains in any given field, the faster that decay tends to set in.

The current situation is going to kill a lot of smaller businesses towards the bottom of the curve that were already on the cusp, but many of them would probably have been strangled out of business over the next decade or two anyway. Larger places that were doing fantastic business before this probably have the assets to absorb the loses now to recover later.

It's probably the same scenario with stuff like home delivery of goods and digital business in general - it was already a thing, lots of people were already using it, and slow-but-inexorable adoption meant that it would probably become the future standard at some point anyway, but people being locked in their houses for months at a time just accelerated that process. Once people start going back out digital purchases/delivery will probably drop a bit again, but it will still be stronger than it was before this all started.
