Meltzer reported that WWE is interested in Tessa Blanchard. But further reports are coming from others saying that the only person who reported that to Dave is Tessa Blanchard. Or potentially Blessa Tanchard. Tony Khan is reportedly very against bringing in Tessa.

Well, this is depressing.

Sane, 31, is returning to Japan to be with her husband. This has been in the works for a while and the company has known about it since May if not earlier. Sane was injured by Jax legit by being thrown into the ring steps hard when she was too close to the steps to control her bump on a Raw match taped on 5/26, which had to be stopped and was edited before it aired on television on 6/1. Thats why she hasnt been around since, although she is cleared and is scheduled to appear on Raw soon as she is listed for the 7/3 tapings which would be for 7/6 and/or 7/13. But the decision at the time was to not harp on the injury on television nor talk about it at all publicly which is why they never played it up and her name hasnt been talked about. The idea in play before the Sane-Jax legit injury was to do a career-ending injury angle with her later when it was time for her to leave, which was to set up Asuka against that person at SummerSlam for the title. This is also likely changed since Heyman left, and the person who would have most likely (not confirmed) been put in that spot would be either Flair, who may or may not be back by then, or Baszler, who Vince removed from television. The only thing we know is the person who ended her career was not scheduled to be Jax. While theres been no talk about it of late, there had been talk that once her contract with WWE was up that she would wrestle one more year in Japan and then retire.

That's complicated because the title's been vacated three times between 2011 and 2018

1) Edge retiring in 2011.
2) Batista leaving in 2014.
3) Reigns taking indefinite hiatus to battle leukemia in 2018.

All three eventually returned to wrestle at least once (literally once in Batista's case) and right now the unofficial title lineages are (in order from above)

1) Randy Orton (defeated Edge this year)
2) Drew McIntyre (Batista -> Trips -> Orton -> Kofi -> Brock -> Drew)
3) Samoa Joe (Reigns -> Shane -> Owens -> Joe)

Putting the "title" on Orton erases the last 9 years, so no.

That's how the title got reactivated the first time on here after Edge retired, and it lasted until Batista left in 2014 with The Man title. Eventually Rollins was declared The Man in 2015 and we'd have another run of various champions including the likes of Cena, Styles, Nakamura, Mahal, Ellsworth, and more all the way to Reigns.

Reigns went on hiatus as The Man in 2018 to fight leukemia, and with his status uncertain at the time, it was only best to vacate the title (if we kept it on Reigns, Joe would be the current champ and well... he's keeping the commentary seats warm right now ).

Six days after Reigns takes his absence, Becky Lynch declared herself The Man.

That's the word I was going for. Technically yes. (And Drew Mac and Samoa Joe for the other two times it ended up going vacant. Seeing out of curiosity if any of those unify; rumor has it Orton vs McIntyre may occur at Summerslam).

I also did a vague following of The Man championship for TNA/Impact, as Flair's final match ever occurred there. No vacancies so far and the current champ is RVD

I think my larger point is that anything involving eyes can get ridiculous after a while.

Was it cool for Moxley to get his eye poked out? Sure.
Do I need other wrestlers getting their eye poked out at the same time? No.

That picture reminds me of a story done right, honestly. Mox's tit for tat mentality led to a very interesting chapter in the build toward Jericho/Mox. Emotionally charged, consistently entertaining... this Seth/Rey thing is the opposite.

The problem with Rey/Seth was that it was a pretty great spot to begin with and then they decided "let's just have Seth try to stab everyone in the eyes."

Like Seth lost his damn mind finding out he was gonna be a father and for whatever reason took it out on Rey.
