I got assault charges, even though I fought in self defense, and took some damage for keeping my assaulter from falling headfirst into the ground.

Case was eventually dropped, but it's still fucking stupid that I was the supposed criminal just on the basis of that being what a cop saw.

Yep. Been stopped for no reason driving and walking. Been illegally frisked. Most often I find that cops intentionally try to scare you and stress you out, so they can then say you're acting suspicious and they can search your shit with impunity. Last time it happened I actually got really frustrated with the two cops that pulled me over. They kept saying shit like "you sure you werent drinking, you sure there's not just a little weed in the car?" and "you look nervous, you're shaking" (it was like 17 degrees and i was in pajamas cuz i was coming home from fucking taco bell)

i said to them "what is it you guys are looking for outta me, you keep saying i'm acting suspicious and nervous, feels like you WANT me to be nervous"

they were like oh no no not at all and they peaced out. I was so fucking pissed. What a waste of money

Reposted from another thread:
The times I've had to personally deal with police it's been almost exclusively negative.

One time when I was assaulted with multiple witnesses, the cops that came didn't really believe me and weren't helpful at all until they got video footage, despite my wife and 3 good samaritans telling them I was just strangled. They took their dear sweet time getting there, giving the guy who attacked me ample time to get away. Then when they saw video evidence they all just sorta nodded and went "Oh yeah look at that". And even after that were just sorta non-chalant about it, even talking me out of calling an ambulance, even though I told them I was a retired EMT and figured it would be a good idea to call.

On a separate occasion, my wife driving alone late one night and was involved in an accident where some rowdy teenagers ran a read light (at a camera intersection mind you) and t-boned her. She was injured and hurt, and while we were waiting for EMS, the cops that appeared at the scene kept telling her over and over "Well can you REALLY be sure you're not the one who ran a red?" and guilting her because they wanted to know why she was driving so late at night. (Spoilers: video footage showed she had green, the kids had red). I know they need to be impartial, but really doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out who's at fault between a group of four, giggling teen boys VS a lone, crying young woman.

And a third time in recent memory, my wife was driving the two of us home, got pulled over by a cop who said she blew a stop sign. From there get go, the dude was giving her an attitude over it, telling her she's lying, he watched her go through it at 30 mph, etc.. I was in the passenger seat the entire time, and I swear on my mother's life, she fucking stopped. The guy was just a dick. That stretch of road is notorious for people getting pulled over constantly for unfair tickets.

I was giving my friend a ride home one day. A sheriff's deputy working security at his apartment complex stopped us and wouldn't let him go home because he claimed there had been a string of break ins recently. We were both dressed in shirt and tie. It was a huge argument.

I told him I didn't have to be there, but I had to make sure he got home.

The officer said it wasn't his job to go knocking on doors. I said that was a ridiculous thing to even bring up because he knows where he lives. He just needs to go there.

I've had more good encounters than bad, I'll say. I did befriend an officer who backed me up on my case, and who later got me fast-tracked for an ambience after I had lodged a butcher's knife halfway through my thumb.

Very much so. There was a homeless black man who was attacking people across Ala Moana, and luckily a cop was nearby to minimize the damage. I made a topic about it that got modded, but I got it overturned and put back up.

Anyway, the guy punched a white guy in the face by the bus stop, pushed a Japanese tourist into the bushes, then ran into the parking lot of a nearby bank. I called the police while like 10 other people were filming, and a cop was able to cut him off in the parking lot. There was a struggle and the hobo stabbed the cop less than an inch from his neck, but was eventually taken down and cuffed.

This was the story

Back in my middle and high school days, and a couple years out of high school it was pretty bad.

Middle school Id play a game at the mall with whatever authority was there, cops sometimes - bad area, where Id wait for one to start following me, they always did, and Id start going up and down escalators and see how long they would follow.

High school days I never drank at parties because every time they got busted by cops the cops would go straight to me. Always seem so confused when Id happily blow into a breathalyzer or do some test and pass. It got real annoying. My school loved to party, we had a dude senior year with his own apartment...well for like 4 months.

Couple years out of high school there was the time I was driving down the road... Ill try to explain this the best I can ... a cop on the other side of the road going the opposite direction of me saw me when the light was red. Lights turned green, he wasnt in the turn lane but a few seconds later I look in the mirror and see the cop cut to the turn lane and do a u-turn. I knew exactly what was going on. I got in the right lane for maybe half a mile, knowing my work where I was going was about a mile or so up the road on the left, got over in the left lane and started to turn while looking at the mirror and saw the cop get over last second and turn behind me. Followed me all the way to where I parked and kept driving.

Been pulled over because my license plate lightbulb was out .... ever heard of that? I have.

Pulled over by a state trooper because I was following my friend too closely and the trooper thought ... I honestly dont even remember but the first thing with him, and all of them was asking if I had any drugs or weapons in the car.

Pulled over because about an inch of my car left the road or something when I was going into a turning lane. Some joke ticket but it was a ticket.

I could honestly keep going on but my cigarette is about done and Im going to bed.

Yes. Have been arrested before for a public intoxication. Cops didnt give me a sobriety test, but were complete dicks the entire time. Power hungry ass holes who can do and say whatever the fuck they want with zero consequences.

I wasnt even drunk. I remember them asking me questions once I was at the station. Single or married? When I answered single, they said no wonder, I could have assumed that. You look like a f*****. (Rhymes with maggot).

Another time was in the car with a buddy and got pulled over by the police. Friend was driving. They claimed he didnt use a turn signal. He did. Then claimed he was drunk. He took a breathalyzer, passed. Wouldnt let us leave. Me and the other passenger were told hey were training this new cop here, do you mind if we let her practice sobriety tests on yall?

But they wouldnt let us leave. Told us we had to have someone come pick us up, and leave the car in the parking lot they pulled us over with. Was easily a 3 hour interaction with the cops.

I was riding with my parents pulling out of a gas station. We were clear until this car in the left lane changed on the curve as we were pulling out and sideswiped us. The cop looking over the accident let the other car go immediately. Then he made us just sit there for over an hour before citing us for causing the crash. You could tell they were making an illegal lane change, the other car was in both lanes when the cop got there. But the other car was brand new and driven by a sweet old lady so of course it was the family in the cheap car's fault.

Ive been pulled over before but never had any issue with the officers.

There was even a time where a big group of friends and I ran from the police for trespassing but only myself and one other guy got away. Later on, the police ended up finding us because they knew what car I was driving but let us off with a warning. Im pretty chill and easy going so officers dont mind shooting the shit with me. Its actually kind of funny.

Not me but my dad and his friend. A police officer was upset they were standing on a street and told them to get off. I guess he did it in an abrasive way because my dad's friend retorted at the officer. The officer was upset and either ticketed or arrested my dad's friend, idk. My dad and his other friend were meant to be witnesses for the court case. The officer lied to my dad and his other friend, saying he'd decided not to go with the charges. To get my dad to not worry about being a witness.

The judge believed my dad's friend in the end, luckily.

ya that wasnt my experience.

i had a lot of run ins with the cops. Almost all of them were good but I had like 4-6 bad experiences out of 27 give or take encounters.

the funny thing is when I was doing questionable shit the cops were usually chill and let me off. When I wasnt doing anything were the times they really fucked with me and tried to find something to pin on me.

ive also been treated differently then my black friends when we were caught together.

all in all Im super lucky and had really good cops to balance out the bads. But I also saw what a bad cop can do when hes on a power trip and that leaves a taste in the mouth.

im very mixed on it but I sure as hell think anyone who says what that girl said is sheltered as fuck.

Yeah im pretty sure shes sheltered too. She seems like one of those girls from a well off or privledged family who had everything handed to her from her clothes, to her job, to her education.

No wonder why she never experienced anything bad in her life and shes sheltered.

Mostly with border patrol.

But a couple years back this cop pulled me over on Thanksgiving, started yelling and shit, asked me to get out of the car at which point I asked him to explain himself where he literally said "that's how we do things around here", but I sized him up and decided to get out, he asked if I had a record or whatever and I said no, he said "yeah we'll see about that" and looked me up, then told me I could go. Don't know that the fuck the guy's problem was.

Other than that I was being pulled over a lot "randomly" at one point but I talked to a judge to get hat to stop.
