Yes, it's at a forrest preserve, but there was a small path you can travel on that leads you all over the forrest, the path is just dirt and rocks. I chose really poor shoes to hike in. I wore a pair of converse sneakers, the reason I wore them is that they are high tops and they're snug, unfortunately they are really flat. Indeed, I should invest in a pair of hiking comfortable trail shoes. That sounds really cool, I feel happy in areas like that. Do you have a Sportsman's Warehouse near you? You can get Merrells there for between $35-70 depending on if they're having a sale. That's my favorite brand of hiking shoe, and since I only use it for hiking it's lasted like 4 years. Having a snug ankle is a good thing but you need a lot of support on the bottom or all that energy is still getting directly transferred into your ankles. If you go for a high top, having a medium firm upper is really good for hiking. I might actually head up tomorrow and just walk around, I've been taking my bike every time and you just don't get an opportunity to really take it all in that way. --- ... Copied to Clipboard!

Are you one of the biggest guys at your gym? I've never seen anyone at my gym do any lifts with more than 6 plates except leg press. That 6 plates I only saw once, it was a squat and the dude was gassed after 2 reps. I think there are more serious bodybuilding gyms here that I've never been to tho. What did you say you were cutting to? 240? How tall are you? Just out of curiosity, do you have a goal as far as strength or anything? Are you just trying to see how far you can possibly go with your physique, or do you compete or anything? I'ma blog a little cuz I'm feeling so damn great lately. My body fat is the lowest it's ever been in my life, and the definition of my musculature is really coming through. Especially in my chest and shoulders, my legs were muscular before but now they're shredded af, and my belly and what little is left of my tits is shrinking by the day. That flab on my arms near my pits that I've had my entire life is completely gone. I've been getting a lot of looks this week, feels incredible. The first 2-3 weeks are still hard, but if you get to 1 month youre good. I wouldnt go multiple rounds with it...the amount of fat you have to eat is rather unhealthy and cutting carbs that low can mess with your heart and thyroid. That's incredible, not just the weight but your strength recovery seems pretty rapid imo. Is lifting as heavy as possible for fewer reps better for building muscle? How do you prepare yourself physically and mentally to pick up something that heavy?

less than 6 reps is ideal for building pure strength...thats where Im focused at on my big 3 lifts. The rest of my workout is high volume, high reps for building muscle. I mean youre going to be more muscular the stronger you become, but you still have to lift for hypertrophy as well.

I wasn't sure what hypertrophy was, but that sounds like it's definitely closer to my lifting style since I focus on between 8 and 12 reps for most lifts. I was mostly doing that because I'd heard it was better for losing weight.
A big thing I see often, and my one friend who works out seriously says too, is that isolation exercises don't have a place in a routine and that only compound lifts should be done. Nice, sounds like you have a good system I feel like this is probably the most important advice that anyone can ever receive, and you're the first person I've seen say it in such an easy to understand and apply way. It was exactly like that too, I was obsessed with my weight because it felt like that's all anyone saw. I felt like I was invisible, hidden inside a shell that my true voice couldn't reach out of. So of course I wanted to lose weight, but it took me months of struggling to realize that the weight was only a symptom of a diseased lifestyle where I only ever thought about what I could put in my mouth next and how it'd make me feel. I would work out, then I'd treat myself to a bag of chips and some chocolate or I'd eat a couple of tablespoons of ice cream right before bed. I've always been a laid back person and didn't feel a need for structure, but then I realized that I needed that part of me gone too if I was going to reach my goal, that when I started adding structure I was beginning to thrive. It also makes it much easier, instead of worrying about the goal, I only have to apply daily effort towards the habits that are helping me reach it. It becomes much more manageable, it's just life at that point. --- ... Copied to Clipboard!
