That was a lot to take in tonight.

Marceline was a young girl (I think without the bite marks, so she wasn't a half demon/vampire/whatever at the time?) and Simon found her shortly after the Mushroom War. He took care of her for some time, but already realized the crown was driving him insane. He also knew it was giving him potentially eternal life. He decided to lose the sanity so he could take care of Marceline as long as possible.

Also, Billy is most likely dead, and the Lich took him over. Lich wants nothing more than the extinction of all life in his reality. Is he a literal personification of nuclear war, or is he an actual person who is corrupted by the Mushroom War? Hmmm.

Prismo is a being that literally exists outside of time and space and has the ability to do ANYTHING as a wish for whoever reaches him.... which can only be done through the Enchiridion, which is now destroyed. Lich is now stuck at the Prism with Prismo, and my assumption is that he will somehow corrupt Prismo or steal some of his power or SOMEONE will wish The Lich back. Maybe the snail.

End of s4 is really when the plot kicks in. I hope you like s5, it's a long one.

Season 5 is enormous. A lot of the best episodes in the series are in this one, by sheer virtue of it having so many.

4.25 : I Remember You - Starts off with Ice King pretending to be Marceline, as he loves her music. He decides to make his own music to get the ladies, and goes to his "The Past" room. Marceline seems less than enthused, really not happy Ice King is around. Jake and Finn move in to remove him, but Marceline has a change of heart and wants to help. He breaks down in the middle of his song begging for anyone to love him.

Marceline has a history with Ice King. She knew him as Simon. She misses him. She says that he always finds her whenever she moves. He had a picture of young Marceline. They lived together and knew each other right after the Mushroom War. He found her alone.

God damnit. Please find yourself again Simon.

Marceline wasn't a half-vampire yet, but she was always half-demon. In the "farmworld" she says she's half-demon (even though since she's not half-vampire she did age)

Also, the snail is free, since "Billy" became the Lich's new host (well, it's not exactly possession like with the snail, as he did kill Billy, as Prismo said, it's like a ghost using a dead man's skin)

anyways, I have mixed thoughts about some episodes near the beginning of S5's second half, but overall you're in for a great season. Also it's to note that SU began around this season, so Rebecca Sugar leaves AT for a while at some point during it

Glad to see you got to the plot centric episodes, those are great. I love how Jake could've botched the whole thing if he got what he wanted and wished for a sandwich instead. Even "God" knew he shouldn't do that and told him not to which is funny since in most cases you make the wish you live with it.

Glad ya like it. I enjoyed the original but thought it average for a FF game, the remake has shot up to possibly top 5 for me.

5.03 : Five More Short Graybles - The theme was the 5 tastes... which is stupid. I feel stupid.

5.04 : Up A Tree - Finn and Jake are playing with a totally not Frisbee throwing disc, when it gets stuck in a tree. Jake could easily reach up and get it, but Finn decides a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do and goes to climb it and get it. As he goes up he meets with some creepy AF animals who are seemingly trying to like, stop him at every turn? Turns out that anything that comes into the tree becomes part of the tree. The animals knock him out after he was turned small by a magic apple, and stumbled into their lair where his throwing disc was. The Squirrel who is watching after him does and does not like the tree. He does like the acorns and nut milk, and does not like the others making fun of him. He would escape if he had a friend to escape with. Good think Finn is a great friend. They escape the tree together after Finn makes the "perfect throw" with his throwing disc and catches them moments before they would have splatted on the ground.

5.05 : All The Little People - Magic Man shows up as Finn and Jake are talking about random hypothetical matchups (BMO And Ice King), when he randomly sneaks Finn a bag saying "I Won't Be Back". In this bag are small versions of the cast. Finn starts playing around with them, randomly matching people up, breaking them up, etc. It gets a little creepy, and Jake doesn't like it, so he stays with Rainicorn for awhile. He comes back 4 months later to find Finn still messing around with them. He's made them all very unhappy. They've broken up with each other, they've fought, etc. Finn thought they were dolls at first, but now he doesn't know. Jake suggests he "shake them" since they might exist on alternate realities. This works, as "Big Finn" is able to tell them all he was responsible for all their crummy decisions. Interestingly, he also says, "I Won't Be Back" after having spoken with them. This can't be a coincidence, and makes me assume Magic Man has potentially been manipulating events from behind the scenes. Why else would they use the same phrasing in both scenarios?

5.06 : Jake the Dad - Lady has her puppies.... rainicorns.... puppycorns, and they are as messed up and weirdly cute as you'd expect! Jake takes to being an overbearing father pretty quickly, defending the pups from non threatening things and basically you know.... being a first time parent. He is reading them his favorite childrens story which is all about a fox eating babies. Disgusted at it now, he throws it out the window. Some fox is nearby, grabs it, and shares his finding with the group. They're gonna go and eat some babies. Jake takes the kids for a walk and promptly falls asleep. The kids make it home just fine after Rainicorn asks them to, and Jake is captured by the foxes, not sure if he is a baby or not. As they are trying to eat him, his kids attack the foxes, telling Jake that the "Mom's Guide to Mothering" program he has been following is bunk. He remembers he thought it was bunk as a child too, and his kids end up basically clowning those foxes... including incorporating all of them together into like, a weird spinning top. Jake then heads back to Finn and says the kids are pretty much grown up, thus writing their way out of Jake needing to be an attentive father.

5.07 : Davey - After saving some more candy people, Finn is more popular than ever. In fact, he has some citizens fighting each other about who is gonna get to have him over for dinner. Annoyed at this, Finn decides he is going to get a new look and maybe stop being "Finn" for a bit. Then this happens which made me laugh so fucking hard.

As Davey, Finn honestly seems to dislike being a famous hero. He yearns to be a normal guy with normal problems. I wonder if this will be a theme that comes back as the series goes on. Eventually he wants to just BE Davey and ends up getting Jake arrested when he tries to force "Davey" to become the hero Finn again. Finn begrudgingly gives up being Davey and frames him for the escape of the Robber Jake.

5.08 : Mystery Dungeon - Treetrunks, a Lemongrab, Ice King, Neptar, and the worm Shelby wake up together in a mysterious dungeon. They are tasked with finding the center, I guess? They escape the first room and then Treetrunks makes an apple pie. My god I laughed so hard when after the pie is made, a rat randomly opens a door in the floor and makes to eat the pie. Lemongrab knocks him the fuck out and then starts eating the pie from the rats mouth. It was hilarious. Ice King mentions that the solution to that room was tailored to Treetrunks skillset. Turns out the Ice King brought them all down to get to the center to meet with a Wizard who can bring inanimate objects to life. He wants to bring Fiona and his other creations in his book to life. He tosses it in right before Lemongrab fucking OWNS him with his sword, and the BOOK ITSELF comes to life, not the characters in it. The wizard abruptly leaves

Neptar then tells Papi that his imagination will always allow them to be real, while Jake and Finn look on asking if the Ice King is the saddest thing in the world. Shelby quips, "No, it's me. Watching this"

wouldn't it make more sense that Jake Jr's face is like that because of Warren Ampersand? if I recall correctly, he has a similarly fucked up face.

5.09 : All Your Fault - The Earls of Lemongrab send PBG a letter that they are out of food, despite her having given them a lifetime of food. She gives Finn and Jake some candy seeds and tells them to take it to the earls. They arrive and... I mean, the only way I can say it is the place is fucked up with weird lemon mutants. Ew. Turns out the Lemongrabs have been turning their candy food into Candy People, but not exactly right. This is because PBG left behind her instructions on how to create candy people, and thus... yeah. They immediately take the seeds and smush them together and give it life. Finn and Jake are like, dudes, you're gonna starve. Come to the Candy Kingdom and PBG will help. They take this as an invitation to take over the Candy Kingdom, cause they're Lemongrabs. A huge Lemon John then starts walking the entire Lemoncastle and its people over to the Candy Kingdom. Finn and Jake remember they found its guts and heart, and Smash the heart into awakening. This makes it care about people, and it explodes its giant form into Lemon Candy for all. PBG then erases the life formula literally from their brains, and Finn found the written recipe and took it. Ew. Unacceptable!

5.10 : Little Dude - A flower ends up giving life to Finn's hat, which the boys name Little Dude. As they leave, turns out the flower was actually the top part of the Life-Giving Wizard featured earlier in the season! Little Dude is basically a giant jerk however and constantly trying to get on someones head. The Wizard stalks the boys and comes into their house. The get the jump on him, but turns out he wants to help. Whatever he gives life to turns out to be evil, so he came to warn them. Little Dude escapes the house and jumps on the head of a Candy Kingdom resident, making him buff and a jerk. He gains the proportional strength of a hat, so says the Wizard. As Little Dude On A Donut throws a horse repeatedly at our heroes, it eventually makes it's way onto the head of the Candy Guardian, which promptly turns evil and blows up some buildings with eye lasers. We find out the Wizard can make things that are good if he thinks of good things (like his mommy) rather than bad things (his daddy). He brings a bunch of other things to life that eventually rips Little Dude off of the Guardian, and reverses it all. Finn, realizing that Little Dude was only bad because he was made that way, allows him to be made again as a good boy, and gives him to the Wizard. The boys leave looking to "skin an evil bear" to make Finn a new hat.

5.11 : Bad Little Boy - Ice King is reading his latest fanfic, Fiona and Cake Saga Volume 5 to some captured Princesses, who claim it as a new form of torture. XD Turns out Marceline was listening in and then takes a crack at her own fanfic. Fiona and Cake end up hanging out with Marshall, after we find out the Candy Prince is a little too lame for them. They play around and flirt and in general have a great time, until they have a bit of a fight and Marshall is DYING! Turns out it was just a prank, but it shows how much they care about one another. Ice King, back in reality, doesn't love the story, and when the other Princesses like it, he tells them all to get out.

5.12 : Vault of Bones - Finn and Flame Princess go out dungeon hopping as a means to clear her head. She is worried she is evil, just like her father keeps whispering in her ear. Finn kinda takes over the dungeon crawling, which bores Flame Princess. She likes to be a little more... direct with her dungeon crawling. This means burning it all down. Finn lets her take control and she kinda says a bit old fuck you to keys for doors and such, and burns it all down. She destroys most of the dungeon monsters with little effort, and it looks like for a second her flame-lust is going to burn up Finn too, but she has it totally under control. Finn tells her he was a bit worried, and she said "I'd never burn up my boyfriend". =D

The reward for their hard work? A winky butt in a chest.

5.13 : The Great Bird Man - PBG sends the boys out to check on the Great Bird Man, who may or may not be a crazy bird man. Turns out he is the former Goblin King who used to spank his goblins. Finn and Jake kicked his butt, and then he somehow lost his eyes and became a good person, one with the universe type. He is friends with some birds now. He thinks his eyes are lost, but they are in his beard. Eventually, after proving he is good, the boys tell him his eyes are right there in his beard. Upon regaining his eyesight, he once again wants to go spank Goblin butts. He quickly is made to realize his folly as he spanks the nose of his bird friend and it leaves him. He rips out of eyes once more and goes to seek peace. .... which he does in mere seconds as he finds a mermaid and has a love of his life!

Also Note : PBG laughed at the idea of mermaids beaching themselves because they were sad. The longer the series goes on the more I think PBG is kinda messed up.

5/14 : Simon and Marcy - We find out some of the backstory of Marceline and Simon. Marceline and the Ice King are playing hoops against the boys. They don't get why she invited him, when she says that she loves him. She tells them their story. 996 years ago, the two of them were together in the newly made world following the Mushroom War. Simon protected Marcy against the new weird beings of the world, sometimes resorting to putting on the crown and using the ice magic it provides. However, it starts to change his personality and it scares Marcy. Simon promises never to put it on again, and they go about their day finding joy in small things Simon can do for her to entertain her. Eventually she becomes sick and Simon desperately looks for Chicken Noodle Soup to help her. While on the search he ends up attracting the attention of dozens of what I will call "Freakos". Eventually they are trapped in a corner and he again puts on the crown to defend them, singing the theme song to Cheers to try and keep his sanity. He saves the day, but you can tell it is starting to affect him even without the crown on. Little Marcy tells Simon she loves him, and he responds that he loves Gunter too.

... this is likely my new favorite episode.

5.15 : A Glitch is a Glitch - I honestly kinda hate this episode. The animation style is all messed up purposefully and the story is about Ice King setting a computer virus free that is supposed to leave the world to just himself and PBG. Finn and Jake save the day with weird glitches happening throughout the episode.

5.16 : Puhoy - Finn is downtrodden despite the fact that he, Jake and BMO made an amazing pillow fort. He is sad because he told a joke to Flame Princess and she didn't laugh. Assuming that she is using all her laughs for another guy, he contemplates their relationship. Jake tells him not to worry about it and BMO suggests that she didn't get it at the time. Finn needs to decompress so he goes into the fort. He falls into a pillow universe where he meets a nice girl, gets married, has a couple kids. For a time he tries to find the door back to his home, but eventually he decides to live out his life there, with his loved ones. He "passes away" and sorta whizzes by some red creature that is likely important later. He then comes out of the pillow fort and claims he has an amazing dream to tell Jake. Just as he is about to start, Flame Princess calls him to let him know she only now just understood the joke. Finn is happy, and forgets all about the "dream".

I really liked this episode. I like how ambiguous it is about what actually happened and the mystery of the red creature will remain.

5.17 : BMO Lost - BMO is nabbed by a passing by bird to feed to her chicks. BMO escapes from them and falls into the surrounding forest, meeting up with a sentient bubble. Off they go to try and get back to the treehouse! They run into little Baby Sparkle (or Ricky), and take him along too! They think they are getting chased by a predator, but turns out it was Sparkle's mom who gives BMO a good verbal licking. They make their way out of the forest and back to the treehouse. Bubble then says he doesn't feel lost when he is with BMO and asks to get married. However, Jake comes and pops Bubble, causing BMO intense sadness. Turns out Bubble was not a sentient bubble, but sentient AIR inside a bubble, so he is happy to be released into the air and promises to be with BMO everywhere forever. BMO is happy.

This was a cute episode, and I love BMO so it is good stuff!

5.18 : Princess Potluck - There is a potluck for the Princesses.... obviously. As they are having a good time, Ice King takes notice and decides to go all Grinch on them and ruin their party since he wasn't invited. First he sends Gunter down disguised as a Princess, but they know who he is immediately and tell him to GET DOWN with his BAD SELF! Gunter downs some punch and then starts dancing. Then, Ice King tattles on them to the Banana Police, but they know who he is and don't care. He then disguises his voice and convinces them to shut down the party... but you know, PBG is HOSTING the party, so no go there. Finally, Ice King remembers he can literally rain on their parade... with deadly ice. He attacks, and Finn ends up pinning him to the ground. PBG says she did invite him with some mail, which apparently Ice King never reads.

There were some excellent moments in the episode, especially the arrow getting close and closer to Jake and finally getting him right in the back.

5.19 : James Baxter the Horse - BMO again is fucking brilliant. She is carrying around an egg saying she is pregnant. However, the egg falls to the ground, splat. She is inconsolable until James Baxter comes around. JB is obviously a horse, who rides around on a beach balloon saying his own name. Anyone who sees him immediately begins to laugh and feel happy. Finn and Jake decide they also want this power. They try at first being just kinda cooky and crazy, to poor results. They run afoul a funeral and a small child. They then decide to do some research into their own sound, leading them to some sort of sound research facility. They find their act and begin to make others happy akin to James. They try to at the funeral and for some reason the corpse in the coffin comes out and then the spirit from that skeleton beats them up. Right as the spirit is about to finish off Finn and Jake, JAMES BAXTER TO THE RESCUE! He comes and does his act, and makes the spirit happy.

This episode was fucking bizarre, but the start with "Pregnant BMO" was great.

5.20 : Shh - Finn and Jake decide to play a game where they do not talk, but can communicate with signs they've made. This works out well until BMO tells them that s/he invited some bikini babes over to dance to their favorite song. Finn and Jake cannot answer them as they don't want to lose. BMO naturally assumes they are not the real Finn and Jake, but instead are weirdos in their bodies and hides in the walls of the house. Jake goes looking for them and encounters someone writing in the walls, as well as a lovely spider and some mice. He finds BMO but BMO is having none of it. The bikini babes show up, but no BMO to greet them. They eventually hear her music on the roof and start dancing. Finn and Jake break up their signs to basically tell BMO they are real and they're playing a game and that they love her. However, to get to BMO they literally take an axe to the wall. The ceiling and wall collapse, leaving BMO to tell the Bikini Babes to grab the fakes. Eventually Jake cracks after having been pinched repeatedly by a Bikini Babe.

... uh.....huh. Interesting concept that of course goes crazy. BMO again is wonderful, listening to her favorite song while rocking away intensely scared.

5.21 : The Suitor - Uh... Peppermint Butler is doing some weird dark magic shit to Cinnamon Bun when the big candy guardian butts in and tells him he needs to help PBG pick a suitor. Butler finds a relatively young man by the name of Brocko who is deeply in love with her. So, he has the two meet and PBG is less than interested. She says he has an infatuation with her and that is it. Brocko doesn't agree and eventually goes to find a Soul Stone that PBG needs for an experiment. He goes through many trials and tribulations but comes back with the Soul Stone! Turns out she doesn't need it anymore, as she developed basically a different method to do what she wanted. Brocko is set to throw in the towel, but Candy Guardian tosses him back Peppermint Butler telling him to fix it. Peppermint Butler then speaks with the dark force he conjured into Cinnamon Bun and talks it into making Brocko basically a love machine, at a heavy price. The price is his physical beauty, but it works as Peppermint Butler wants to have his kids. Brocko goes back to the princess and finds out she loves him like any other candy citizen, and she made him Princess Bubblegum Bot, a robot replica of the Princess, since she knew he wouldn't be happy without her. Brocko initially finds it a little weird until PBG Bot kinda gets up on him a bit, and he runs off with her. And then this happens.

05.22 : The Party's Over Isla De Senorita - Ice King once again attempts to kidnap PBG and doesn't understand why she hates him. He decides he needs a new start and leaves his Ice Kingdom to a sleeping Gunter. He shipwrecks in a deserted island, takes off the crown and makes himself a hat from palm leaves. Hearing a singing woman, he climbs a mountain and finds out the island IS a woman. A large woman. Very large. Turns out she is dating the Party God, but he isn't exactly great. Ice King tells her she deserves better. She says she is gonna break up with him, but loses the nerve. Ice King goes to break up with him for her, leading to a rather cool fight. Ice King wins, and uses the unconscious head to talk to her and she breaks up with Party God. Ice King then tosses him into space, and "breaks up" with PBG.

Like this one a lot. I like when Ice King shows his more sane side.

05.23 : One Last Job - Jake Jr. Is kidnapped and Jake is told to get his old crew together to steal from the Candy Kingdom. Of course it was the old crew that was setting him up and took Jake Jr. But no, it is another twist!! JAKE JR. SET UP THE WHOLE THING!!!! She wanted to be just like the old Jake.

Fun. Fun little episode to bring some of Jake's past into it and his kids.

4.25 : I Remember You - Starts off with Ice King pretending to be Marceline, as he loves her music. He decides to make his own music to get the ladies, and goes to his "The Past" room. Marceline seems less than enthused, really not happy Ice King is around. Jake and Finn move in to remove him, but Marceline has a change of heart and wants to help. He breaks down in the middle of his song begging for anyone to love him.

Marceline has a history with Ice King. She knew him as Simon. She misses him. She says that he always finds her whenever she moves. He had a picture of young Marceline. They lived together and knew each other right after the Mushroom War. He found her alone.

God damnit. Please find yourself again Simon.

I never knew a children's show of any kid could hit me as hard as this episode but this had me in fucking BITS by the end of it. It's so fucking heartbreaking when you realize he only ever became that way because he loved Marceline and wanted to keep her safe in such an unsafe and horrible world. God I'm in tears just thinking about.
