Topic asks all, and I'm just wondering from everyone here on this board since it seems that the "web browsing/loading standards" have really been upped. It looks like Google Chrome is dominating in terms of usage for checking out web sites in general, but once again, I'm just asking to be sure from everyone else here.

Post your responses here, but let's be civil about this as always. I'm out for now; later, all.

I've been told that I'm married to Firefox. I refuse to use a google browser or anything related to their whole internet ecosystem. Occasionally if I need another browser it'll be palemoon(a fork of Firefox).

FireFox, although I two-time it with Google Chrome sometimes, (in fact I often have both open at once), for stuff that works better in Chrome than FF, and for stuff where I've got 2 logins.

Firefox, do not think I even have any other browsers usable on my own computers.

Lost all respect for Chrome, after a malicious FF plug-in (never figured out where it was from) tried to keep opening IE, to download and install Chrome. I just kept seeing a blank programme popping up, because there was no IE for it to open.

Never really heard of that "palemoon" browser before; any details in regards to what it's all about?

If I'm not mistaken, and with all due respect - that's what made me conclude that the current web sites that are in action right now are thinking the "Internet Explorer" browser is somewhat "dead". They're trying to match it to Google browser loading standards for it to load up at all.

An offshoot of Firefox - a lot of people prefer it but I don't know the ins and outs of why its better in some areas, WaterFox is another offshoot, but I haven't tried that either.

It started as a fork of an older version of Firefox and it's basically just a more lightweight Firefox with less features/clutter and according to wikipedia more emphasis on customization. Apparently it also supports more addons including many that Firefox no longer supports.

Chrome. I used to use Firefox but when I started using more Google products several years ago, I assumed a Google based browser might better interact with the other Google stuff I use.

Firefox, mainly because it's the only browser available for Windows that's also available for Android AND capable of running an ad-blocker on both. Chrome for Android can't do ad-blockers, and Samsung Internet Browser can do ad-blockers (using external apps) but isn't available under Windows.

lmao FF has memory leaks for decades, probably still does.

both are memory hogs. but that also has to with sites getting more bloated with scripts and frames and shit. so get plugins that let you micromanage each site to block extraneous crap.

I don't believe any of the mainstream browsers have memory leak problems, and if they do then it's probably because of running scripts and addons, not the browsers themselves. It's hard to believe that an open source browser like firefox could have a memory leak for decades when the code causing the leak could be easily tracked and patched.

This. Also the websites themselves could have memory leaks. I know that one of the websites my company uses will eat up all of the system's RAM and hang if it stays around in the background for a few days.
