Dragon Ball Episode 112 complete!

Wow, I left off at a pretty important part! I certainly wasn't expecting Piccolo to kill the Eternal Dragon after getting his wish. That was rather, well, ballsy.

But is there any point in still calling the show Dragon Ball anymore after that?

I'm trying to think through the details of this Smash Ultimate Fighting League some more.

Perhaps I should have championship "weight classes" where you have a lightweight division featuring characters like Kirby, a heavyweight division featuring characters like Bowser, and those would be "traditional" 1-on-1 3 Stock matches, no items, tournament stages, all that.

Then we could also have a free for all championship league with everyone, and we could have 4-fighter (or more) matches with crazy rule sets and things like that.

We could have literal iron man matches where the characters are metal, and then we could have the pro wrestling version, where it's a 60 minute time marathon.

We would also keep track of win-loss records that could be used to determine betting odds and who the #1 contenders are. We could have a big PPV type event once per month with title fights and maybe tournaments and stuff.

I dunno, maybe this wouldn't even work.

I looked up a weight chart and divided them into three classes. Heavyweights are everyone whose weight is 100 or greater. Middleweight is everyone whose weight is 90-99. Lightweight is everyone below 90.

It's not an even distribution, but it puts 30 apiece in heavyweights and middleweights, and 21 in lightweights. I don't know if I should further subdivide it because maybe that's too many characters in one class.

How is Trials of Mana? I know you're a big fan of the original, so is it something you'd recommend for someone who never played SD3?

Trials of Mana is a lot of fun. If you are interested there's a free demo that lets you play up until the first boss or so. It gives you enough time to get an idea of what the battle system is like. If you like the game you can transfer the save file to the full version.

Yeah I would 100% recommend it. Its easily the definitive version of the game and you dont need to have played the original to enjoy or appreciate it. Like TRE said, the demo is actually pretty robust if youre curious.

So I was reading some commentary on The Last Dance (i am a dummy and missed like 3 episodes around 6-8) and it got me thinking what other teams/dynasties would be interesting to have that kind of look into.

I saw someone mention the Patriots and... I don't think it would be even remotely as good except if it got to the truth of the whole Brady/Jimmy G/Belicheck/Kraft saga and even then that's more like the focus of an episode in The Last Dance.

I'm not so sure the Warriors would be as compelling either but in fairness the book is not necessarily closed on that yet. I think the '00s Lakers? idk, kinda feel they're in a similar boat.

Not sure baseball really has an equivalent here. I think I saw Highly Questionable (or Around The Horn?) float the idea of the WWE and McMahon and maybe that has something to it.

I don't think the Patriots would be all that interesting unless you could be assured that Brady and Belichick will actually be open and revealing because they've never said a single interesting thing in their careers, especially about the other person.

I just don't think there's really been a person quite as captivating as Michael Jordan in the last 30+ years, and that's the big difference. You might be able to do something on those LeBron Heat years because there was drama galore surrounding that team the entire tenure.

I think it'd be hard to do something really good on the Shaq and Kobe Lakers now that Kobe has passed away, unfortunately.

Yeah, the LeBron Heat could be interesting, though I think at that point you almost want to have it be LeBron's 8 consecutive Finals appearances because the Cavs/Warriors Saga would have some good stuff too.

I started playing The Talos Principle. Didn't play long, only got past the intro area. Seems like the basic premise of the game is to use jammers to stop machines from killing you so you can collect Tetris pieces.

The story seems like it will draw pretty heavily from the Bible and mythology, so I'll be interested to see what they ultimately do with that.

IIRC, the anime just added the Z at this point while the manga just stuck with Dragon Ball so *shrug*

Nothing, its an arbitrary break.

The tone definitely shifts starting with the piccolo stuff and it kinda stays that way throughout. Theres still lighthearted bits here and there but its more serious than what came before.

The manga is 42 volumes long and the first anime covers a little over 16 volumes of it, while DBZ does the rest.

Nope! There is a timeskip between the break, but the show has a bunch of time skips and Goku grows up in Dragonball.

Part of that whimsical humor that his design doesnt change until it has to.

Poster Girl's a pretty fun CE to use, since you can put it on a buffer, have them buff your party turn 1, and then they'll get killed the next turn so you can bring in another buffer.

I'm playing some more Talos Principle. I'm assuming the puzzles get more in-depth the deeper in you go because they're pretty simplistic so far, but it's cool wandering around finding out stuff and learning more about the world around you because you know literally nothing coming into it. I do like that there's a sign in front of each puzzle room that lets you know whether you've already completed it or not so you don't have to wander in and figure out you already did it.

Whoa, the new F/GO event is basically a VN Murder Mystery. Basically a new chapter released every day and then a voting period where everyone who has read it votes on the culprit and if the majority is right extra bonus rewards.

It's different from the other times. It says something along the lines of "The story is about to make some dramatic turns, so it is strongly recommended that you save first."

I think that's because it knows there's about to be a few spots where you can get a bad end so it's trying to encourage a safety save.

What a bizarre episode. Somehow a little girl picking up a sniper rifle to attempt to shoot Piccolo in the back of the head was the least unusual thing! Is that undead Roshi?

Shirogane has been excellent this season so far. Fujiwara is great as always, too.

Also, since I've been messing around with Smash Ultimate again in preparation for this Smash Ultimate Fighting League, I finally beat the Classic modes for the DLC characters I hadn't played yet (from Hero on). Hero, I could never quite get the hang of. Down-B seems like a pain to do on the fly. Banjo-Kazooie was fine, I guess. Good side-B. Terry Bogard was as awesome as I thought he would be. Byleth was a lot of fun, too, and the final fight in his Classic Mode was super cool.

Maybe I'll finally finish World of Light, too!
