Board 8 > Raka continues playing Yakuza 0 every now and then *spoilers as I go*

So Kiryu finally found the Tachibana Real Estate building and beat people up. But things get complicated as it seems that they're protecting people from yakuza. Even though they just sell lots and buy buildings like overgrown Monopoly players.

That guy in prison/Kiryu's ex-boss already knew Kuze wanted to sell us out and frame us...I don't know, all these yakuza intrigue is not wholly interesting to me but ok.

And now...we're in Osaka! I knew we'll get to play another character but I didn't expect it to take place in another city with a whole new map to explore and stuff. This guy Majima looks like someone's Deviantart OC.

He runs a high class brothel and takes care of drunks with class. I'm liking him already.

But anyway some more flashback, is Y0 really a prequel when we have extensive flashbacks and unexplained backstories but ok. Apparently Majima was tortured for a year but the yakuza torturing him was so impressed that he's not dead yet that he let them into the family. Then they kicked them out. Then Majima wants back in to save his bro, who's in trouble for killing 18 members of a rival family? Did I get that right?

So now he's forced into a middle management role as a punishment! Now that's a fate worse than death. He has to buy his way back into the family.

Along the way, I (either as Kiryu or Majima):

• Helped a kid get back his Dragon Quest 3 Chinese rip-off that got stolen by his own dad
• Helped a girl rob crane machines for dolls and then beat up her mom's loan sharks
• Pretended to be a TV producer and made it out ok since they share some jargon with theater and others can be deduced. This director guy is wack.
• Coached a wannabe punk band to talk like bad asses
• Stopped an enterprising high school girl from selling organic clothing items
• Pretended to be a boyfriend for some rando girl and her dad hit on me I mean I'm not mad about it
• Sent agents to rob people around the globe in order to get some weapons

Combat-wise, I'm really digging Majima's slugger style.

Last time we see him, the 'owner' of the cabaret club wants us to kill someone so we can renew our Yakuza Club membership. Yay.

I believe he was already in the family and he was tortured because he wanted to help his bro with the killing despite being told not to, and then was kicked out of the family but not killed because they were impressed with him living.

I just finished the game a few days ago and loved it. The only thing I knew about Yakuza going in was that it was essentially a beat 'em up and that the story was insane, and it delivered on both of those for me!

Ah yeah that makes more sense.

I was about to head out to a 'telephone club' (WTF) to get some dirt on my mark, but I found a guy lying dead on the side of the street so I was about to buy a stamina drink for him (and for me as well, just to restock) but then I ran into TWO other subquests lol. A statue of a street performer that comes to life and now thinks he's human and a guy looking for fake cheap jewelry to trick his unsuspecting girlfriend.

Oh I forgot to write it in the OP but I also tried out this wacky 'bag phone' (pfft portable phone is NEVER going to catch up) and saved a girl from the...uhh...Manko Sonept Onash...cult. Shooreh pippi!

OK this might be the most contrived set up yet, this guy gets swarmed by two bit punks every time he tries to cross this bridge because of his 'stajun'. Yeah that's an SCP item if I ever see one.

Oh and I danced like crazy and cleared all songs up to Normal difficulty for those delicious CP. Hard is still a bit out of my reach though.

From what Akko is telling us, this Makoto guy sounds decent.

Also, a breakdance style of fighting? Majima sure is more fun to fight with. I just don't get Kiryu's third style, it's so slow...

Best Yakuza game by far. Also Majima has much better fighting styles than Kiryu.

Oh try to do the 2 unique minigames for Kiryu and Majima, the Building Buying for Kiryu and the Cabaret for Majima. They are fun and you get good money for these too. But they do take time.

Also that fight against the big guy was easier than I thought. Really nice sequence there though with Makoto there not knowing what was really happening.

And now there are random goons appearing out of nowhere taking Makoto away. Noooo.

Yeah but I do recommend to use a guide to get the good girls and another guide to see where are the buildings that Kiryu can buy since they don't show on the map.

The hostess club minigame could totally be sold as an expanded mobile game and I'd be into it. It's so good and the music while you customize your hostesses is incredible.

As for Kiryu's Beast style, it's amazing when you have items around to abuse the auto pick up with.

I did have items! But the animation is too slow and enemies hit me all the time before I can so anything.

Coming to Y0 after playing SSBU kinda threw me off since I can't execute moves as fast (not their fault tho).

Yeah I never ended up using the Beast style when I played. I much prefer the quicker battle styles.

I should say I'm enjoying these fights that have another person fighting on our side, first with Nishikiyama and now with Oda (beating up goons who try to extort us for a building with a squatter).

Man this office sure looks spiffy! Does upgrading its fengshui at the shrine actually yield gameplay benefits though?

Also, I finally got to sell the plates that Kiryu had been holding since chapter 2 and I'm now 111 million Yen richer :0

The trick to make money is to buy Estate as Kiryu, then going to his office and waiting, since you get money in real time. For example let's say you get money every 10 minutes. So go to the office, wait 10 minutes, collect the money, go buy more estate, repeat. Just play something on PC or Tablet while waiting for the money to come in. Don't do it all at once though I suggest.

So some loser in a purple suit called Awano beat up Oda and decked Nishikiyama. He threatens to kill us and Nishiki if we don't give up the Tachibana CEO.

Oda told the CEO to go hide.

Oh man this Daigo kid sure is adorably precocious though kind of a jerk as well. I'm interested in seeing how he'll turn out in the next games.

Also when he was kidnapped I took my sweet time to train a dominatrix (hilarious subquest) and get a password for a shady merchant that I never end up buying anything from. :'( Come on, maybe he sells infinite rocket launchers!
