An ARMS character was announced as the first character but they haven't said who it is yet. I believe they said the first character is still on track for a June release.

Since people know where the next character is coming from they can't speculate it's something dumb like Shantae so they don't know what to do with themselves

I'm sure the ARMS character will be fun to use. But much like Terry and Byleth before them, nobody cares about the character, so the SSBU hype train has been dying, outside of people who enjoy the gameplay of the series.

Surely there has to be somebody in the 2nd pass that would gather as much hype as Banjo and Hero did for the western and eastern world? Why not lead with that, unless they are planning to reveal them on the same day as the "E3 presentation" when they reveal and release the ARMS character.

It just seems a bit risky to go three characters in a row of generally perceived duds.

Most people suspect that one of the characters is going to be a Sword/Shield Pokemon and another will be Geno to finally succumb to the fan demand like Ridley, Banjo and K. Rool.

The other 3 are up in the air, there used to be speculation that one of them would be a Mana character but we recently got spirits from Trials of Mana, I guess they could put someone from Secret of Mana if they feel that's the more iconic game though.

If you want a real shitshow putting literally any additional FE rep in FP2 is going to cause an extinction level event

I cant think of anything else that might piss people off, maybe like... revealing Shadow Mario to help promote Sunshine HD, I dont know who would be looking for something like that

Lolo would be dope. I've been calling for him since 2003.

But my prediction (past the confirmed ARMS rep) is:
-Gen VIII Pokemon
-Ring Fit Adventure hero
-Astral Chain character
-Rex
-insert iconic 3rd party here (Ryu Hayabusa/Crash Bandicoot/Lara Croft/Master Chief/etc)

Hah, I remember a decent amount of support for Mike Jones in the pre-Brawl days. Inevitably, each post supporting his inclusion would be met with "Who is Mike Jones?". I do think it's sad that the series doesn't even have a Spirit/sticker/trophy at any point in the Smash franchise.

Rex is probably the one I'd want the most. Nintendo is really going heavy on Xenoblade as a franchise, after all.
