If she's over one or two nights a week, maybe less, then dude needs to let it go. He's getting laid, they're having a good time, they have breakfast together etc. Unless he's really struggling, he shouldn't be hurting that bad. If she's over 4 or more times a week, consistently and without fail, taking showers and stuff - then ask her to move in, or barring that, to kick in some petty cash. If you're one person paying for the resources of 2 people, or even spreading that cost between yourself and a roommate, something's gotta give. Yeah, there's not being financially stable - sometimes you've gotta sacrifice a day or two, because you're getting some companionship out of it.
