Is it the one with hot blonde sword chick? I think you can clear the fog if you kill the mage on the other side of the lake.

Black Eagles so far:

Dorothea > Bernadetta > Edelgard > Hubert > Petra > Lindhardt >>>> Ferdinand > Caspar

Girls rulez, boys drools.

Also, got C support between Dorothea and Petra and it was very lesbionic. Hot!

I really like Petra's quirks about her difficulty with the language, but beyond that I need more personality. I have a feeling Ferdinand hides some great characterization that will come out later, but currently he's just a generic stuck-up noble, which Dory rightly and hilarious calls him out on in their support. Caspar is a giant waste of oxygen. Well, a small waste considering his frame, I guess.

They spawn between the arena, the classrooms, and the pathway to the 2nd floor, church, and reception hall. They aren't in your face, but it's an area I imagine most people walk through during explore.

I hope she will become best girl. Like I said, it's a good base, but she hasn't branched out beyond that yet and it doesn't form a basis for a proper personality like Bernadetta's introvertedness does in relation to how she interacts with others.

Also, she's basically discount Lyndis.

Classes other than the Noble/Commoner starting class gain experience terribly slowly, and often seemingly not at all. Not sure what the deal is. I'd have assumed attacking with magic when a monk gives you monk exp, or using a sword as a myrmidon, etc., but it doesn't seem to be the case.

Noble and commonly require 50 class exp.
Beginner classes require 60 class exp.
Intermediate classes require 100 class exp.
Advanced class require 150 class exp.
Master classes require 200 class exp.

Units gain 1 class exp after any combat. 2 with the statue bonus. Lyisthea's personal doubles class exp gain. And the knowledge gem also doubles class exp gain.

You gain class exp by just participating in battle no matter what the actions are. The best/cheese strat way to level classes is get the statue bonus and equip a knowledge gem to get 4 exp per battle. Go into a map and find a place where your unit won't get hurt or is followed by a healer from a distance (out of the attackers range so they don't attack the healer instead). Unequip your weapon, and let the enemy attack you by constantly passing your turn. Without a weapon equipped you won't ever counter attack, and they'll do no/minimal damage and you'll get 4 exp per fight. I'd usually do that when I clear the map except 1 or 2 enemy units and send my unit in the middle of them.

Adding to this.

You can generally afford to experiment a bit for the beginner and intermediate classes. More so with the previously mentioned bonuses. Later on though, it takes too long to do so, at that point you should hopefully have an idea what direction you want to take a unit.

But I wouldn't worry too much about that first time around. Not like you'll make the game unwinnable.

When a support has two arrows above it does that mean I have to wait for story progression to complete that support level, or does it mean that there are two levels in one that I just need to rub people together some more to obtain? And if it's the first one, does support accumulate while you are waiting?

I thought they were shaped more like ' instead of arrows. But yeah, it just means there's an extra support convo at the + rank.

All supports go C -> C+ -> B -> B+ -> A -> A+. The pluses don't really do anything outside of some support chains using it for an extra convo.

Alright thanks.

Seems to me that the best use of my day currently when exploring is to eat with as many students as I am able to instruct the next day (or maybe even more since motivation seems to carry over if unspent) to max out their motivation, and then spent the remaining points however I please. Seems like it's fairly easy to get the max yield from lectures that way.

Lectures scale from the Tutor's rank skill and the learner's rank skill. So a professor with an A rank lecturing an E rank student gives a lot more than an A rank lecturing a C rank.

Also you can buy gifts once you unlock the other merchants and refresh motivation that way. Then you have activity points to put into Byleth for skill exp as he generally lags behind in skill ranks.

EDIT: For clarification, you shouldn't neglect building up prof rank either. Fistful of Fish is a great way to get prof exp because you get multiple fish per a bait and you get exp per each fish caught. You should try to hoard bait for those events.

I believe Arena matches give you more prof exp than eating with students and also helps you build money to buy gifts to refresh motivation. Also planting flower seeds gives you flowers you can gift to students as well.

I made an edit to my post. But you might just be too early in the game. It's a quest you pick up during an explore at the beginning of the month that rewards you 2 merchants. One that sells bait, ores, and some gifts. Another that sells meat, seeds, and some gifts.

Is it even possible to defeath this Death Knight dude on hard mode without super grinding on days off? Jesus Christ, based on his statistics I'm pretty sure he'd even double Edelgard and do 20+ dam per hit. I'm figuring that he's an optional challenge you can take on for his item exp, but you cant just complete the fight without going near him if you aren't suicidal.

Btw is it still 4 speed above to double someone? Also how do fisticuffs work exactly? I saw someone get 4x attacks in with them.

Gauntlets have a brave weapon effect when they initiate combat. This means they deal 2 consecutive hits for each attack. So if you can double an enemy you will quad when attacking using gauntlets.

It's possible to beat Death Knight. Especially one hard when he doesn't even move unless you attack him.

I like fire emblem.

I've tried to get into this game a few times, but it really is hard to get past all the mindless drivel.

I don't want to free roam to the kitchen to have a meal. I don't want to free roam to go fish and plant stuff. The 3ds games have it better, it was a smaller free roam and a lot quicker. I certainly don't care about the lectures. This one is bigger and more involved.

It's especially bad because the early battles are fairly easy and can be done in 10 maybe 15 minutes.....but theres way way more free roam crap to deal with than gameplay and that's on top of the standard fire emblem stuff(the good stuff) like upgrading and character relationship dialogue.

maybe after the first 3 or 4 hours it stops being a drag, but man, it's dragging.

Yes you can beat Death Knight though it'll have to be a group effort assuming you don't have Lysithea who just shreds him if you manage to level up her reason far enough. What I did was rush him with battalions until he was in range for someone to take out.

For the double question, it's not just speed you take into account. When you're looking at your characters' stats, look for the one that says AS (Attack Speed). You need that to be 4 above the enemy's AS to double. I don't remember the exact formula but it's a combination of a unit's speed, their strength, and the weapon weight you have equipped. Pretty much a weapon's weight will negatively affect your AS unless you have the strength to outweigh it so that's why training weapons remain competitive for a long time. As for fist weapons, they always double on initiation. So if you have 4 AS more than the opponent, you get the two doubles or the 4x attack as you see

You get more freedom in a month or two as you get more 'time points' rather quickly.

I'm not too sure if the Seminars are worth it though. That's about the only thing I'm not sure of for the Free Days.

Seminars are generally regarded as being not worth it.

Unlocked my first advanced class (priest(ess) for Dorothea). I see that they're much more like an actual class than the beginners were. They're a bit jack of all trades while these ones have specific ability sets to see them down one specific path. Nice. Wish I had the Dead Knight's Dark Seal so I could make Hubert a dark mage. Oh well.

Did some non-story battles. Had two quests this month that required me to do battle on my days off. All my characters are now level 10, except Bernie (lvl 9) and Byleth (lvl 11). The suggested level for the next story mission is 9. I feel grossly overleveled >_>

Unlocking the statue bonuses was really nice for class and lecture exp. Things were starting to slow down as people were getting better, but now it's back up to some sort of normal speed.

I feel like I kind of have the hang of things. Lots of complete garbage lvl ups, though.

Not really sure why I sometimes get stat bonuses when I unlock a new class and other times don't. Also not sure how common those stat boosting items are and if I should be careful with using them or just whatever.

You can use the L/R buttons to view the stats of that class. Blue shows improvements, Red shows decreases. You can use "X" to view details.

As for the reason you get stat bonuses. When you certify for a class if that class bases are higher than your unit's bases, your unit's base becomes the new classes base. This can help prevent your units from being overly stat screwed early on.

DeadBankerDream posted...

+1 stat boosters have a good chance to drop from gardening. +2 stat boosters are a bit rarer as they usually require you to defeat certain enemies, steal them, loot them from chests, or complete optional objectives.

Shoes of the Wind, which boost you a unit's movement by 1, only exist by doing Ashe's and Catherine's paralogue pre-timeskip. Since it's a pre-timeskip paralogue you only need to recruit one of them.

You should use them as a 1 or 2 point stat boost can be immensely helpful.

Heroes Relics don't work very well unless you have a crest.
This also applies to the gameplay, your units take damage if they use a relic if they lack a crest, and they need the matching crest to use the Relic's combat art.

The slightest of spoilers about item availability. Not plot.
You'll have a chance at at least two more Dark Seals. So you can still get Hubert into the Dark Mage and the subsequent Advance Dark class provided you get both. But honestly it is still better to run Hubert through Mage anyway to master the class and get Fiendish Blow. Then you can become the Dark Advanced class. Even if you never get any Dark Seals, Hubert's best class is a Master Class and does not need a Dark Seal to get. So fear not. Also, you might consider raising Hubert's riding skill.
