Besides, I don't really wanna add new people to the roster at this point. I feel content where I'm at.

So in my first post in this topic, I said imo I think it's better to just recruit a couple of characters because one it makes replays with other houses more different, and two it makes the second half of the game better and more impactful. I'm happy you followed that advice because characters you recruit are replaced by generic random units when fighting other houses. So when fighting Claude you'd fight him plus some slightly stronger randos instead of him, Hilda, and Lyisthea. I think the second half has a better impact when your forced to kill former classmates (and hear their death quotes).

Plus recruiting a ton of people doesn't matter when your going to have your main team anyway.

Yeah, I thought that was good advice. Also heard it in a lets play of the game I watched a few episodes of.

I do wonder if recruiting units you wont use is a strategy on Maddening (which I'm not sure I'm ever gonna play, gonna need to poke around for details at a later date). Like, if you recruit Lysithea earlier, will the replacement unit be considerably easier to deal with, and such things.

It's a New Game + strategy for sure. Like, if you were to recruit Lysithea without intending to use her, you could set her weekly goals to reach C in Lance, then just go hard at riding. Then when you play through on Golden Deer, you can just buy her lance and riding rank with renown, making Valkyrie and Dark Knight obtainable without wasting time in a class other than Mage and Warlock

There is also an element of recruiting people for certain paralogues and the items/battalions they give.

Ashe and Lorenz stand out in that regard. Felix as well.

On maps where you have infinite reinforcements, they give reduced XP to prevent infinite grinding.

Honestly her biggest strength is the early game due to faster skill leveling as she'll have access to more powerful spells sooner than the rest of your spellcasters plus mastering classes sooner meaning she'll get fiendish blow way before everyone else.

she def was nowhere near as good as she was in my golden deer playthrough

by the end of that she was doing 60 dmg per hit and usually doubling

So Caspar gained a shit level up, so I used Dragon Pulse to go back and avoid it. Waited until I think 2 turns later to level him up, on a different enemy, and he gained the exact same shit one. At what point is this stuff determined and is there any ability to manipulate the RNG other than restarting a fight from scratch?

Also, for some reason, this second go at this paralogue, the reinforcements don't give Jeritza shit exp. No clue what's going on with that.

It annoys me how master class requirements are set up. Whole game I've run Petra as a sword/bow user, as I feel her stats, strengths and growths have lend themselves to. Now if I wanna make her a master class in either of those categories I also have to randomly jack up her horsesitting powers or her magic.

That's dumb as sheet.

Some advanced classes are better for their endgame. For instance, sniper has Hunter's Volley, which makes it better than Bow Knight in a lot of situations. And Swordmasters or Assassins are considered by many to be better than Mortal Savant, due to the low speed

Assassin is the second best infantry class in the game and the best infantry class for women and it has 6 move so it doesn't fall behind like Swordmaster.

But yeah, otherwise Master Classes do swordies dirty, because Mortal Savant is terrible.

This really depends on difficulty. Hunter's Volley is great in Maddening where doubling is harder, especially for the boy archers. But in other difficulties Bow Knight is better in just about every way.

Is hit rate and crit rate stuff pre-determined the same as level ups? Obviously not exactly the same, but I mean assume other factors don't change except that you make an attack later on, will the result be the same?

Been trying to use Bernadetta to OHKO Ingrid with Deadeye off a 32% hit rate. When I miss I dragon pulse, move my other units on the other side of the map and wait a turn to try again. I think I spent 6 or 7 dragon pulses attempting it with no luck. Could just be Fire Emblem being Fire Emblem, but I would like to know.

It's not the same. The game will keep the same RNs preloaded in the event of a divine pulse. If you don't burn some RNs before trying the same action, it'll stay the same. If you do, the game will use different RNs (which may or may not cause things to happen differently).

If you move other units but don't engage in combat with any of them, that should lead to the same result with Bernadetta.

Honestly Deadeye isn't that good due to how sharp accuracy drops for bows outside 3 range.

But to answer your question you can use divine pulse to burn rng rolls by having another unit engage in combat to use up the rng that failed your other unit. But also you are fighting an uphill battle trying to hit a 32% chance to hit attack.

Byleth's spell list is bad all around. There's not much reason to use his spells over magic weapons. Although I will say having Byleth with the ability to use Recover is pretty nice because it's a huge heal no matter how little magic you have.

Certification success rates are pre-determined for the month iirc. This means that all the rolls for the month for each character have already been done.

I will say though, giving the beasts in this and the last mission magic immunities is fucking bullshit. Magic is not some sort of special attack move, it's the basic attack of several of my units. I'm sorry I didn't level Hubert's bow skills, game! At least make the magic attacks able to break barriers even if they do no damage.

I don't see much of a reason to bother with Hubert's bow skill. Lances have Frozen Lance and his paralogue gives him the only magic lance in the entire game. He has a lot more going for him with lances than he does with bows.

It also does suck that magic immune barriers get spammed later in the game, but barriers are pretty easy to break with gambits from your other units that I rarely run into it as a problem.
