Holy shit, stuff went down hard in chapter 10.

But in totally unrelated notes, I mastered Thief on Byleth and got... Steal. Is that ever useful?

It's not bad to have on like 4 chapters....It's something I equip if I look through the map and see they have something I want. Otherwise no.

Nothing. I reloaded my save from like 40 minutes ago cause I wasn't done exploring the monestary. Game didn't give me a warning that talking to Edelgard would drastically move the story forward. I'll probably go with her as I'm doing the black eagle route. I can always choose to remain in a file with a different house if I so desire. I think from a roleplaying perspective if I had to be honest, I'd choose to stay, but I wanna see her story now I have her.

Also just a thought, the menu systems in this game is kind of bad. At a given time I have to go through several screens just to get to my characters' stat screens and I can't see how much of an item I have on the marketplace buy screen. It's very frustrating.

Also, do you automatically lose the school tournaments if the opponent isn't downed in a specific number of attacks? Marianne dodged my 91% hit chance fire attack twice in a row and then I lost.

The tournaments do timeout and make you lose no matter the hp difference. I usually save before entering a tournament to restart if I lose.

Yeah. Two full rounds (4 attacks) and then you auto lose.

which also gives you 4 characters you unlock each character for the main story every 2 chapters
but you can only recruit them in part one for the mainstory

NG+ gives you some alternate outfits for the students. Otherwise most outfits require the expansion pass.

Not really but the speed growth is better for both swordmaster and assassins that myrmidon or was it mercenary? whatever it was the speed is better.

Shocking revelations are shockingly happening. I'm both kind of shocked and thinking I should have chosen the other, probably less shocking option, which would also have been more boring surely.

Trying to redo my battalion stuff properly before the fight and I managed to barrier break both the beast enemies. Yay me!

I got a battalion from a paralogue that gives good damage and has 15 avoid at lvl 1, so it would be perfect for him with his innate ability, but it requires rank A in authority.

Unless you have a full blown boon in Authority or have been actively focusing on it during instruction/goals. It is very unlikely that you'd have A in authority at that point of the game. Really only the Lords or Lysithia would reasonably have a shot at it.

Which is okay, A rank battalions are extremely strong and balanced around not having access to them until later.

Sure, but the game gave me the A rank ones at this point. I'm pretty sure the related paralogues couldn't even be done beyond, well, where I'm at now. And there's no lower rank battalions available for purchase that give more than like 1 or 5 points of avoidance. Most of my units are at C or D authority.

Anyway, back to this excitingness.

There's only 4 routes. Black Eagles is the only class that has a route split.

I'm doing that route right now, but I'm going to do Maddening Blue Lion's first before doing Maddening Crimson Flower. Both routes I still have to do on Maddening because I did them on Hard before Maddening came out and I figure I'll avoid doing the same class twice in a row.

hopefully you recruited some people because i didn't recruit anyone outside of Black Eagle and you only get 2 additional party members (one optional) afterwards so i only had 11 characters for the final mission
though those are two of the strongest in the game

I was about to say, if you could have any two additional characters, they made sure you got great ones.

And Flayn, being the second healer with big Charm, is like everyone's dancer on the first playthrough.

I have Sylvain lying around somewhere in the high 10s, never used him as anything but an adjutant. Otherwise nope. Feel like he should be leaving too.

On Black Eagles, Dorothea is the best dancer to pick. She's not the most amazing mage in the world and she sets up Meteor attack links while having access to physic.

With DLC classes now, Flayn is a pretty solid Dark Flier as it gives her the mobility to actually use rescue well.

Also kind of curious how this will turn out with Edelgard going full JRPG wanting to kill the goddess (or at least her mortal representation in Fodlan and me essentially being some form of reincarnation of her. I get the feeling Byleth is The End to Sothis' Beginning.

I'm kind curious to, in another playthrough, learn exactly what makes the Leicester Alliance different than a kingdom since it seems its leadership is all inherited just the same. I have a feeling it's basically a kingdom but they get high on pretending its not.

The timeskip in general is pretty poorly done, but it's probably done the worst in CF (the route you are on).

On the other routes there's a cutscene where your coma makes a little more sense. In CF it's inorganic and even more poorly explained.

His house has the most personal connection to the part 1 storyline, which is fun, and (actual spoilers) Dimitri's seemingly-nice facade cracking is great to watch.

Mega other route spoilers. Reah isnt a god just a dragon elf same with Seteth and his daughter, Edelgard is a Nazi but tricked into it by the people that killed Reahs mom (dragon elf leader) and made her corpse into weapons which they then used to slaughter all but 4 of the tribe. Reah them managed to fight them off with a seperate group of humans helping her started a religion and made the villians out as heroes cuz those with crests were the only ones who could use the weapons made out of her moms corpse and were already powerful familys as far as humans went, but made her mom the creator god in said religion....also your mom was a magical "clone" of Reah and she tried to use you as a sacrifice to ressurect her mom, also in a weird way she is your mom, and potentially your lover and Sothisis is sortof your grandma and your potential lover and Flayn might be your cousin (not clear if Sethet is Reahs brother) and your potential lover.
