I think it's trying to protect the passengers, who will probably be spending time with each other, likely in close quarters, anyway.

Uber/Lyft have a "share" option where you can select that you're willing to share a ride with another passenger that's going to the same place/in the same direction/etc. It's to cut down on that.

Also, I'm absolutely done with the youth vote because they blew it even before Pandemic. They had a chance to actually change things and they opted not to. Even if youth vote was up, it wasn't up enough and it was proof enough that they just flat out don't give a shit the way older people do. So they have no one to blame but themselves. So I will absolutely shit on them until they prove me wrong. I live in a whole different god damn state and I still voted in my primary.

Heres the thing: The youth vote has NEVER shown up in numbers rivaling the old, because logically they cant. Even the current olds didnt vote when they were younger, not even when the voting age was lowered to 18!

1) Old people have literally nothing better to do.

2) Old people are generally more motivated/riled up because they consume 99% of the 24 hour cable news (ironically also makes them the least nuanced/least flexible voters).

3) Young people are constantly told they dont know shit and that things will never change, so theyre the most jaded/uninspired group.

The media and Dem establishment pick their guy, they cover their guy so much that the olds who do nothing but consume media show up for the guy theyve been told is their best hope.

The guy the youth likes gets beat, and the youth get demoralized by the onslaught and that Dem loses.

They don't "pick" anyone. They have preferences but voters choose. The DNC wanted Clinton and got Obama. The RNC wanted anyone but Trump and got Trump.

Their ability to influence is weaker than people think. Moderate Voltron was absolutely a thing, because Sanders' support rose since everyone dropped out, but Biden's rose significantly more.

No, Bill Clinton won with incredible charisma and strategy, with Arkansas + Tennessee via Gore to best the guy who threw up on the Prime Minister of Japans head.

No other Democrat has ever run a campaign like that, and Joe Biden is...not that.

Edit: Put another way, Bill Clinton is the exception that proves the rule.
