I'm reading through the KF thread. I'm not 100% convinced this is true, because there's always a very real chance that some detractor went to extreme lengths to fake all of this, but it does look bad for Phil.

I have no idea who Paypal works either, but I can imagine Phil fighting chargebacks. He is the person who believes that once you give sometging to him, it's his by right, he worked for it. Doesn't matter if people feel cheated because he went back on his word or didn't deliver, it's his money period.

Having said that, the discord message itself is phrased like it could be Phil's, just it seems really convienent and there is nothing in there we didn't know already.

I still am mote inclined to believe he did blew that money rather than not (and not just cacha games). But the opposite is that some "detractor" has spend tens of thousands of dollars to make Phil look bad.

As much as I hate it, the catfish saga is actually beneficial to Phil.

Either Phil is spending thousands of dollars on mobile games while crying poor or someone else is spending thousands of dollars on mobile games and trying to make it look like Phil is doing it. Both scenarios are unlikely, but one is more unlikely than the other. Phil has admitted in the past that he's spent money on mobile games, he's admitted that he's played this particular game, and he is notoriously bad with money. Plus, everything uncovered so far points to this being Phil. Again, I'm still not completely convinced, because in many ways this seems too good to be true, but I don't know how else this could be explained.

I was also thinking about how all of the reasons I once did enjoy watching Phil are gone. I used to enjoy and stick up for the guy committed to playing every new release and getting it finished/reviewed in fast time. I thought some of his reviews were insightful, well constructed and well spoken. He clearly did enjoy the doing this for a living before money problems/Leanna left/the rise of some admittedly extremely unhealthy detractors. The biweekly co-op sessions with John Rambo and wrestling recaps were also fun as hell to watch. I even had a blast moderating streams for them when they were first trying it out playing Bully way back in the day. It's important to note that Phil himself was actually enjoying these things so it was all fun for the viewers, even if he was still using a camera or the early days of streaming.

At some point it just all got toxic, he cut nearly every one of his shows aside from aski the king, and he has no enthusiasm for what he is doing. On top of that the narcissistic personality and some more unlikable characteristics came out (there is something really wrong with how afraid he is to play out romance angles in games). I don't have fun watching him play anything anymore, even classics of my favorite games.

In some ways I don't blame him. He brought a lot of this on himself, but I would also be miserable if every day of my life trolls were analyzing my every move making the laughing stock of the Internet/gaming community. It's all a classic story of someone doing something interesting with good intentions and taking it for granted pissing it all away and becoming what he probably once hated and an individual not worth a shred of respect

I honestly get where you are coming from, but disagree with your last paragraph. He is miserable because if his own doing. He treats his fans worse than his trolls, and what detractors mostly do is call him out. It's no one's fault he is over half a million in the shitter, but his own. Every oppertunity he had, be it coop streams, podcasts, interviews, etc, he pissed away. Alienated his long time fans, somethinf you can attest for yourseld.

And sure, people may lose passion for something they love, it happens all the time. Most people don't burn every bridge with every relationship they have however. Phil is the laughing stock of the internet, not because the internet nominated him, but because he demanded that spotlight himself.

I agree. Look at old pkaythroughs of X-Com, Arkham City, his first Dark Souls run, racing games and many others. Even though he does seem to be enjoying himself more, his gameplay methods are mostly the same: try the same thing over and over till it works.

The only reason he is excited about the vest, is because it makes him money. He is driving it into the ground as he does with everything. It won't be long before he'll start resenting HAVING to wear it, and will play the victim, because people are forcing him to do something for money. But you see, Phil is not like other streamers, he is not a thot that does shit for money.

It's not going to last, he set a stream goal, fans will try to achieve it, and Phil has an aversion to things he HAS to do, like playing games. Another great example is the upcoming viewers "choice" game. He complained about not a lot of people voting for the game, so he bitched about it during the stream, then people took to voting and he complained about the polls suddenly changing. Does he truly not get cause and effect?

But like always, Phil will pick what he will, because fuck his honest fans, right?

And that is what I mean with him treating his fans worse than his "detractors". His fans actually vote, actually give him money, and given enough time he will resent them for it. People give him money, ask him legitimate questions, but other than "idiot" and "who cares" they don't get much of a response. Detractor tips/cheers largely get ignored.

But when you look at his trackrecord, it becomes way WAY more obscene. Project 7 is an old time favourite, where he took money to reboot his P7 series and basically just pocked it. Same with Super Mario Sunshine, a game that was voted for with money on patreon, only to not play it.

Money he raised to buy a new camera, then didn't buy it. People giving him dollar tips, but since Paypal takes a cut, he needed them to donate 1.30. People buying him games, but now also have to pay his taxes for him when they do so.

And no matter what example you use, I dare you to find one where Phil is legitimally thankful for what he has gotten. Because I can promise you, you will not find it. He says thank you, but his actions are quite the opposite. He is always pissy when streams are slow on contributions, yet acts like it is the most normal thing in the world when people give him money freely, for just sitting on his ass.

To be honest, he was way more humble in the beginning. But when you look at Phil, he just became worse and worse at pretending, and his "default" character started to seep through.

And this is why I can't understand why Phil, not only has legitimate fans, but actually are whales,since a few of them make up most of his income. Because even if you start as an actual fan, his personality will eventually drive you away.

It even was bad that he didn't finish Persona 3, despite being on the final boss. Sure, I'd be pissed off too if what happened to him also happened to me, but if I had people give me $1k+ to play a game, I'd sure as hell finish it. Instead of adapting to things, he bashes his head against the wall until it works.

"Oh, the final boss has a form where he could charm one of my characters and that character can full heal him. Maybe I'll experiment with fusion or get an accessory that negates charm on that character and try again." Phil just rage quits instead, shitting on anyone that gave him money.

Also, I was extremely bored and decided to watch him play Warzone last night, which was his last match of the evening. Even before that began, something was obviously off with Phil, as his voice was raspy or something. He attributed it to heat and the day stream. Anyways, Phil's idea of playing Warzone is to literally run away from any possible encounter, then hide inside of a building until people found him. He did somehow manage to kill two people while I was watching, but ran out of bullets and got killed by the third person. Phil was happy to reach the top 50 for doing absolutely nothing at all.

He already resents wearing the vest (his office is way too hot, dood!), and I wouldn't be surprised if he started refusing to wear it at some point.

The vest illustrates a major problem: his streams are so boring and repetitive that his fans are jumping at any chance to break the monotony. Imagine how pathetic a person has to be to spend money on this guy so that he'll put on a stupid vest. I can't even begin to comprehend this, that some lonely guy tips fifty bucks to hit the goal because seeing Phil in that vest is just thrilling to him. Think of how much extra money Phil could be making if he bothered to think up a tip goal that actually benefited his viewers in some way.

I think we all have, that's hardly somehing to be ashamed/emberrased about. Hell, I've had debts due to losing my job, and I have worked my ass off to repay them.

But neither of any of us are half a million in debt and refuse to do something about it.
