The Ad

The room rents for $500 a month, on a month to month basis. The rent includes all utilities, cable tv, as well as high speed internet. Most importantly, you must like my dog, and he must like you as he is a better judge of character than most humans. He is a 130 lb. Golden retriever. Very friendly and very hairy. I am not very good at getting along with other women.

This. All I see is an ad looking for somebody that can live by her specific rules. It doesn't matter if someone doesn't like them. She wants a very specific type of person. Whether or not she can find someone is another question. It's personally too much for me. But others may be fine with it...

Nothing wrong with being picky about who you live with. The "be gone 8 hours a day" part is a little weird. But for $500 a month rent that includes utilities, you'd probably get a lot of skeevy applicants so I can understand the checklist of parameters. And getting along with my dog would be a requirement for me too.

Well, exactly. I wouldn't want to be sharing space with someone who wasn't good to my pet(s), even if they weren't a huge fan of whatever kind of pets they were. My dog is the sweetest-natured girl alive, and she's a senior doggo. I don't see any reason she should be made unhappy in what's her home too, you know? I'd assume more or less the same applies to this woman's dog.

For the rest, some people are just that introverted. Nothing wrong with wanting someone who's effectively, as she describes, an "absentee roommate".

This. At first I thought this posting was a little odd of a request but it's honestly probably more of an intense version of an ad I would put out myself...if I ever had any desire to have a roommate. I did that twice in college and am glad I will never have to again.

The only thing is I don't think I'd be fine being out of the house 8hrs on both Saturday and Sunday every weekend. It's my only chance to catch up on TV shows and video games.

Sounds like a cranky old man. Thats what he sold himself as. Just reading that post had me worried about my things. Even the ...they knew their room would not be entered into... did nothing to alleviate those fears.

Oh. I've seen those ads. They're kind of creepy the way they word things sometimes... And they always turn down girls who "aren't to their standard." Which seems weird since it kind of seems that the only way they are getting girls is to get them to move in with them under their set conditions...
