after they delivered it, the total price magically shot up to $50.73. I cant even dispute it in the app. Theyre claiming the initial price was just an estimated cost and that what Im seeing now is the actual total. The fuck? You cant just show a price to someone on a food order and then after they deliver it turn around and go haha it was actually $20 more, thanks

a slight adjustment of a buck or two is one thing but that kind of difference is absurd. Apparently postmates instructs drivers to not give customers the restaurant receipt because people realize how much more they are paying for the food even before any fees

thats what I thought. Like $2-$5 is reasonable. Not almost $20. Ive also ordered exactly what I got in store for like $28 or something so it definitely doesnt cost $22 to fuckin deliver

I used to use postmates but they started to do some unscrupulous stuff. Compare their prices to the actual prices in the store for instance, it's often much more, then they charge a service fee based on the higher cost, then a delivery fee and finally you need to tip.

So basically a $10 item normally can be $15 on their website, they then charge 20% service fee ($3) + 4.99 delivery and then a tip on the total (23$) of $4-5......so your $10 item ends up costing $28 freaking dollars.

It's crazy.

I think i've heard more complaints about postmates/door dash/whatever in the short time they've been alive than traditional pizza delivery - which has been around all 30 years of my life and longer.

part of that is that pizza delivery has been a thing for a lot longer so it really streamlined

a couple decades ago it wasnt a rare thing to order a pizza and have it show up an hour later, barely warm, or with half the cheese stuck to the box

I posted this somewhere else, but for a few months Uber Eats was charging way more for delivery fees as well (on top of the other charges). My guess.....is that is was due to there being snow so they upped the prices?

I'm not sure but, there is a 15% of the order charge as well, along with a service charge, so the min $5 delivery fee they had basically meant I stopped using it for those months.

Now they are back down to $1-2 for most (Delivery fees) and even more, this whole month (Which I guess is aamost over, it's waived all together if you order $15 or more in food.

So now at least uber eats here is about $20 for a $15 order all together...which isn't too bad, and so I have used it.

I think they saw what Postmates was doing and decided to try it personally lol, but I'm not paying twice the cost of the food (or more) to have it delivered.

I will never use these food delivery apps. My friend ordered $52 worth of food from a nearby Cajun Claws and after taxes, service fee, and delivery fee, it was $74.98. Pretty insane markups

Make sure the amount isn't the preadjusted hold they put on your account. Postmates does that for some reason. They put a hold on your account that is higher than the charge and then adjust it down.

How did you come to that dumbass conclusion?

Working in customer service myself I would never yell at somebody but losing $20 due to shady shit sucks. I'm not really for yelling, but if calling them and being chill doesnt result in them doing anything or taking you seriously, then I suppose go ahead and get mad, because that may get results.
