Im pretty sure my wifes best friend is in ShiYan at the money and my Ed is gro there and a few of the Chinese citizens that are in quarantine drove from there to make the flight last Sunday. You want me to bother checking the facts so you can actually say its true

So the WHO is on the ground now and is making China report cases different. Hence the big jumps today in Hubei. The national numbers are very delayed ATM and whispers it is gonna be a big number possibly.

From what I understand that is incorrect.

So the way I understand it is. If they never got a confirmed test, they were not counted and if they died before confirmed it wasn't counted.

However, the WHO is forcing them to consider anyone who has the symptoms but has not yet returned a positive test to be counted and people who die under these symptoms to be counted. China was not counting these. While this may make the numbers a bit higher than they really are without confirmations, it would not be missing a ton of cases either.

Basically, from what I understand is that the test for it is not a simple test. It requires a blood (or maybe it's a cell sample - cell sounds more right) taken from deep in your respiratory tract. They can't test people fast enough / have enough tests to keep up. So, people who had symptoms and weren't with results yet were getting undercounted.

CDC announced recently a lot of the tests distributed to states and possibly other countries are faulty also.

The test I got on arrival for quarantine was literally a throat swab. Two nasal swabs and two throat swabs to be exact. Results take 48 hours. Good news I got my results yesterday and I dont have it.

New national numbers were not high. Just over 300 new cases outside of Hubei. Which is lower than the previous day. That is good news.

I think all the numbers are higher throughout China not just Hubei.
The government announced that nobody will be returning to work before March 1st. Your favourite part will be that the statement said everywhere except Beijing, which is being interpreted as a test for the rest of the country to see if its actually safe before the Beijing government themselves risk going back to work.

I think reading the story of the cruise ship is good enough to understand how contagious/deadly the virus is
There are 3700 people on the ship, "only" 61 infected. None of them died so far

If the virus was THAT contagious and deadly as the "ground zero narrative" claims, about 3000 of them would be infected. 2000 of them dead. Maybe more

But it isn't the case. There is no China to keep things hidden in this story, this is just the way it is.

feel like this warrants some updating as it was posted 4 days ago. since then, the number has gone up to 218. still none have died but it's a very sharp uptick, so there may well be cases that aren't reported, either due to being unknown or just not tested. also absolutely no country is accepting them, which is pretty fucked up since there's reports you could get it again so i'm not sure what's gonna happen.

Hubei: 4,823 new cases (3,095 clinically diagnosed and 1,728 confirmed) and 116 deaths (of which 8 clinically diagnosed). Total throughout February 13th now at 51,986 cases (15,384 clinically diagnosed and 36,602 confirmed)

Today's numbers. So, yesterday was a huge backlog of numbers that were applied all at once to make the huge number.

It is always possible that a lot more people have the virus than we know about. Just from not being diagnosed or poor medical areas. For example, it is pretty safe to assume North Korea does not actually have 0 cases.

From what I gather there is some truth to it. The weather is awful right now. Its snowing which is perhaps the worst weather for this virus to spread in. I havent seen an official government statement on it but I have seen people saying it. It may be a rumour that has become true but isnt enforced by law. Yet.

Okay from what I have gathered. The infected man from Hawaii visited Maui and Oahu. Showed no symptoms in Maui but did show then in Oahu when he stayed at the Grand Waikiakian Hotel. They are searching for his itinerary to determine where he may have spread to.

Ironically, if my pool team had won the Hawaii tournament trip, we would be heading to Oahu like a day or two from now for a week. So, losing appears good for us.

The Japanese Taxi driver now has 7 infected linked to him. A doctor in Japan is now infected as well as another unrelated patient in the hospital. So, Japan may have an outbreak unveiling before us now.

And, an 80 year old Chinese tourist died in France yesterday, marking the first death in Europe due to the virus. (Though I think it's kind of misleading to mark it as that).

Another study today said that the r0 looks to be 6.6 which makes it unstoppable and that the 60% number that many think is high is likelier low and it is as much as 80-90%. That the death rate is likely just 1% but that it is unknown for sure.

Another study said the virus has "outsmarted" us and has adapted to survive the quarantine by being able to reinfect the same host, able to survive asymptomatic for 20+ days, and the quarantine needs to be 30 days to successfully stem the spread.

We have talked about it extensively. I believe they said today they are going to be bringing them all home. The first order of business was finding them somewhere to Port though which they did a day or two ago. Japan finally let them port.
