Many of you may have heard of the Coronavirus. It is an EPIDEMIC, that may turn into a pandemic before long.

China has been accused of fabricating numbers lower and censoring their populace in regards to it. However, we do have some information that they have reported so far.

https://i.imgur.com/3jcT35Z.png

There are tens of thousands of confirmed cases, hundreds of deaths, and it is spreading.

China has approximately 110 million citizens under lockdown. They have quarantine centers established that have very little in the way of public water or medicine. Some feel they are simply going there to die.

https://twitter.com/HimalayaGlobal/status/1225411980090982402?s=20

There are videos of the Chinese officials welding people into their own homes to prevent them from leaving their own homes if infected.

The doctor who tried to whistleblow that this virus existed was admonished by the government and accused of spreading rumors to cause a ruckus. He has now died.

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-china-51403795

There has been a ton of censorship going on with hashtags, posts, and blogs being taken down. Some have accused the Chinese government of killing dissidents of the government under the guise of the virus.

Face masks, which are relatively ineffective, have been sold out most places or are now being price gouged.

The virus has spread to many countries, though not as badly as China so far. This includes even the United States which has double digit confirmed cases.

The virus seems to not affect the young too much but can be spread from person to person, possibly even before symptoms (unconfirmed), and possibly can be re-acquired even after it has been recovered from (unconfirmed).

India just today has reported that it has thousands of suspected cases, and they are looking into it. Of course India and China are the two most populous countries in the world.

https://in.news.yahoo.com/amphtml/2-826-suspected-coronavirus-cases-being-monitored-kerala-170440475.html

If anyone wants to discuss this outbreak, let's do it here.

scariest news today i still think is the announcement of forced camps. not just only because the idea of rounding up people into camps due to disease is wrong in a number of ways but the language.

https://www.nytimes.com/2020/02/06/world/asia/coronavirus-china.html

Wuhan is told to round up infected residents for mass quarantine camps

A senior Chinese official has ordered the authorities in the city of Wuhan to immediately round up all residents who have been infected with the coronavirus and place them in isolation, quarantine or designated hospitals.

Sun Chunlan, a vice premier tasked with leading the central governments response to the outbreak that is centered in Wuhan, said city investigators should go to each home to check the temperatures of every resident and interview infected patients close contacts.

Set up a 24-hour duty system. During these wartime conditions, there must be no deserters, or they will be nailed to the pillar of historical shame forever, Ms. Sun said.

The citys authorities have raced to meet these instructions by setting up makeshift mass quarantine shelters this week. The shelters are meant for coronavirus patients with milder symptoms, the government has said. But concerns are growing about whether the centers, which will house thousands of people in large spaces, will be able to provide even basic care to patients and protect against the risk of further infection.

"wartime conditions."
you've someone high up in the chain of command calling it "wartime conditions."

yeah that video is part of the bioweapon theory. its timing is coincidental as fuck, as is the subject matter. that conference took place in October, December almost the exact same scenario happened, only in China instead of South America.

Well, if India starts getting cases of it, I expect this to blow up massively. China may be massive but India is massive and relatively less developed also.

Especially if the fecal matter spread is true because they said if true that poor water sanitation systems could let it spread through there.

Last I heard, the virus can last 5 days outside of the body. Not sure how the water sanitation systems work, but less developed areas like many parts of India could be scary.

Have to say though that it is crazy that something like this is happening so fast. I mean we always have things like this in History of course but man you think that this happening so fast happen only in movies or video games.

Still it will get fixed of course but yeah having the whole planet on alert is insane.

Also I know that China is censoring stuff and I get that this their policy but even now? After what is happening?

eh? especially when things like this happen is when you can expect censorship to drop to its hardest degree. the arrested a bunch of people just the other day for releasing info on the coronavirus.

combing through the reports of new quarantines/lockdowns is really annoying as a result. the wildest statements i've seen would be today with claims like 400 million on lockdown, that's bullshit. you'd have to stretch the meaning to the point of worthlessness to get that. the big claim yesterday was that the Jiangxi and Liaoning providences joined Hubei's in being in lockdown. if true, that brings it up to 150 mil. but there's only a handful of sources and i'm not 100% trusting of them. what i think is happening is people are looking at actions by businesses and jumping from that point. it's why you'll see claims about guangzhou city and shenzen being on lockdown - they aren't but there are a few key movements that allows people to think it's a "yet, officially." things like major factories being closed for at least a month, public service notices detailing tighter restrictions or how to behave. but it's neither true nor particularly helpful when looking for accuracy. is great for fearmongering though.

There are 20 or so cases here in HK but everyone is already on high alert and bracing for a total outbreak. The company I work at (and many others) have pretty much forced us to work from home. I have stockpiled food and face masks at home and only go out every 2 or 3 days. Call us paranoid but no one is taking any chances after SARS.

This wouldnt have happened if the government hadnt refused to close all the borders and now we have at least 10k people coming in from China daily. There are lots of conspiracies going around that they are intentionally letting an outbreak happen in retaliation to all the protests last year.

So yeah Im basically becoming a shut in for at least a month or two and hope the virus goes away by then.

It's right to be paranoid considering you guys know better than anyone how much bullshit the mainland is. When you don't know the truth and are in that kind of proximity, assume the worst.

Diarrhea
Coughing
Fever
Shortness of breath

Main symptoms and issues to deal with.
As long as you have means against that, you're in decent shape. Humidifiers and steamy showers help plenty too.

By all accounts, facemasks do nothing unless already infected to help you prevent spreading it.

I don't believe in conspiracy theories about the numbers being much higher than they are
I don't believe in the bio-weapon conspiracy thing either

This is still worrying because of the % of the death count
It's getting lower, yes, with the last day being "just" 13% increase from the day before, but even if it drop to 10% increase per day we are looking at more than 10k deaths in a month from now, and the numbers will only get higher with each day
I mean, the number of deaths this wednesday is double the number of deaths in wednesday last week...

I was thinking about this today, but as but as a tragedy as 9/11 was, this is going to kill more Chinese than died on that day for us. Granted their population is about 3 times bigger, so it would have to be 3 times more to be about as significant. However, it is weird to think about it in terms like that. It is sad to hear.

the big media issue with it is that we're split between citizen's reporting however they can and government reporting and there's a gigantic difference. "fake news" like the cremation story got admitted to being real a week later, china calls a bunch of beds lined up where security is in containment pods "hospitals" despite having no proper staff, power, or medicine, we've had both doctors and funeral homes both explain how people aren't being counted and the numbers are massively underreported, etc. so we're stuck with official narrative that's full of lies and ground zero narrative that's the worst situation. we're missing a proper one that pulls back.

if you go by the way businesses act, it's much closer to the way the on the ground reporting is, though there's some hyperbolic news that's exclusively relying on this. or we can by what the vice premier's policy on Wuhan is: going door to door to pull people out in camps, calling it wartime conditions. this kind of action and rhetoric doesn't suit the official narrative but it absolutely matches what individual people have reported.

I think reading the story of the cruise ship is good enough to understand how contagious/deadly the virus is
There are 3700 people on the ship, "only" 61 infected. None of them died so far

If the virus was THAT contagious and deadly as the "ground zero narrative" claims, about 3000 of them would be infected. 2000 of them dead. Maybe more

But it isn't the case. There is no China to keep things hidden in this story, this is just the way it is.

I don't think there is a virus in the world that was the deadly... ever. Wasn't the highest death virus the Swine Flu at like 9.7%? You are saying if it isn't 67% death rate, China must be telling the truth? (Maybe the Spanish flu was higher - Another H1N1 strain).

The infection has been reported over and over again that it is most deadly to the elderly and to those with underlying conditions.

Or to put differently:

If you're not elderly and not a child, safe.
If you're in a first world country, safe.
If you've clear access to clean water, and medicine for pnumonia and diarrhea, safe.

If you've failed all 3 of these, you already know disease is your biggest issue.

Well, underlying conditions seem to be counting obesity as one. Asthma. Etc.

I don't know how accurate the assumption to make is that "well, people aren't really dying in foreign countries" is right now at this point until local transmission really raises the numbers dramatically. We will see. I am not saying people should go out there and be in bunkers waiting out the virus to come back above ground. I am just saying, this is an issue, how big of an issue we can't really know because China isn't very trustworthy as far as an official source, but hopefully, the Chinese people don't take too much of a hit in regards to the virus.

Oh sure, asthma definitely would be a problem though it's because of the pnumonia. Shortness of breath, coughing, and fever combined with asthma makes for a very fatal combo. If you get the coronavirus, you're getting lung inflammation. That's pretty direct.
