I don't know if we'll ever know the exact break down of age but from the sample size of 1636 (pretty good for a thing that got like 180k total)

What I find encouraging is almost as many people age 17-29 (24%) voted as 64+ (27%) and 30-44 was at 21% vs 45-64 (28%)

Last time around the 45+ crowd had well over 60% of the vote, so if this holds up going forward it could be a great sign for Bernie.

I've already seen criticism of Bloomberg's bad stances there yeah.

As for "woke twitter", though, here's the thing "woke twitter" by and large doesn't even see Bloomberg as being in the same party as them (which makes sense given that he was calling himself a Republican until basically he wanted to run as President, but also just on policy in general).

Woke twitter mostly cares about people they do see in the same party as them (usually Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders). So when one of those two make a significant misstep, people who want to support them feel betrayed, speak out on twitter, ask the campaign to issue a correction, etc.

This isn't because these people dislike these candidates, it's because these people like these candidates and want to feel represented by them. And when these candidates screw up, people want them to recognize their mistakes, speak to those communities and reassure them that they're still supportive.

Nobody thought Michael Bloomberg was looking out for African Americans or transgender Americans in the first place. People do expect Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders to look out for minorities. Are they held to a higher standard? Kind-of? But they're held to a higher standard by people who would prefer that everyone was kicked out of the race for not being woke enough except for Warren, Sanders, Castro, and Harris.

Now that the working class are finally seeing growth, we can't stop the policy of big deficits now. Not until the working class have been restored to their pre-crash standing relative to the rich.

Remember, the top 1% pays 50% of the income taxes and therefore, they own 50% of the national debt.

it's pandering just because there was no way to reconcile her past as a prosecutor - it was just 2 years. she was a "good" one, objectively speaking. that unfortunately means she did end up hitting minorities and poor people way harder and was willing to fuck them over in return for getting numbers that favored the state. her twisting from that past to trying to act like a champion of the oppressed felt like such an extreme that i couldn't help but scoff, far as i could tell the only reason she got away with it to any degree is because she herself is a black woman. you give me a white man with that background and that little time and watch him get nothing. she definitely tried to appeal to that "woke twitter" crowd, i just can't put her name in the same category as sanders, warren, or castro. i don't even find warren to be that genuine but there's something there.

also while we know what "woke twitter" is technically, i do think it's important to identify the general ideology there: it's identity politics splashed with a mix of communism or socialism.

I mean, there's an awful lot of errors going not-Bernie's way. I still think it's gross incompetence, but it's not an outlandish claim to make this time. Just hyperbolic.

I mean, Obama had $1t deficits at the start of his first term because of the Great Recession.

And it was decreasing too from FY 2009 (remember, counter-intuitively this was Bush's last budget. The FY starts in October of the previous year.) which was the highest deficit in US history.

The modern economic theory employed by the government is that it spends more when the economy is bad to help it (why the Recession deficits were so high) and is supposed to cut back when the economy is doing good. (Surpluses during Clinton)

Obama had more-or-less brought it back to pre-Recession levels (it ticked up to a bit over that at the very end of this second term) but despite having the "greatest economy in the history of the world" Trump has ballooned the deficit. FY 2019 came in just below $1t by a few billions and the current FY is projected to shoot over it.

When next there's a crash (and there always is one thanks to the boom-or-bust cycle) the government is already spending at what you'd normally see in a bad economy when it's supposedly amazing. There's basically no recourse left when it happens unless you want to see like $2.5t deficits.

+0.6% hourly.
0.0 change weekly (average hours worked per week were down. If you want to be technical real weekly earnings are very slightly down but round to 0)

Corrik's article is focused on January 2020 only though and the answer there is "stay tuned." BLS doesn't release the real earnings report until next week.
