Apparently after being accused of abuse, audio was just released with Amber Heard beating him with pots and pans, cutting his fingers, and other generally gross things. And she was the one looking to sue him.

Many extreme feminists are still claiming Depp can't be a victim because he is a man, but I'm also seeing a lot of apologies. Hopefully a signal that the tide is turning?

i think most reasonable people understand that it can happen both ways and that situations have nuance

I had a sense that this was, at the very least, abusive on both ends from how Amber Heard was talking at the start of this whole thing (you kind of get a sense of this when you work with law enough). I'm sure Johnny Depp isn't entirely innocent in this situation, but when you deal with someone who is apparently as volatile as Amber Heard has been, it's difficult to be.

Terry Crews was also sexually harassed but this is a big one since it completely flips the narrative. Reading the details on the tapes this is incredibly damning. Throwing pots, pans, vases, her admitting to all this, and while it appears he's hit her at times it's consistently as a direct result of her attacking him first. She's complete and utter scum considering not only was she using this for money and positioning but because she'd have continued gaslighting and ruining other people's lives for her benefit.

This particular case is so brutal because Johnny Depp was harassed on social media in waves. He was forced to give up his favorite ever role, Jack Sparrow, because of the accusations by Heard. Heard, meanwhile was lifted up and championed as a voice for those being abused and gained money/roles because of her lies.

If this doesn't end the #MeToo movement, then I hope it at least makes those involved with cancel culture take a step back.

people are too entrenched in their sides and beliefs to have productive arguments anymore man. there could be video of her shooting him in the face and you would still get hit with a tsunami of cognitive dissonance on the matter

at the same time, the calls that this should "end the metoo movement" are a little silly as well. in a just world that movement is used positively and productively for all sides. the movement needs fine tuning and an elimination of abusive practices like ms heards

Cancel Culture's effectiveness is vastly overrated. If it was, pretty sure Kobe would be treated as a "controversial" celebrity instead of a saint and significantly less people would be cheering on Tiger Woods latest major. If Depp went into Disney, he would get back his role in an instant.

Once evidence comes out usually public discourse moves whatever way necessary.

Sorry, I take huge offense to the whole idea of Weinstein being not guilty. There's so much evidence against him it's not even funny.

Maybe I'm just biased though, since none of my favorite actors have been caught up in #metoo while one of my favorite actresses is one of Weinstein's accusers.
