Yet some people are smart enough to design and implement a highly intricate control system, but aren't smart enough drive a car.
World's a weird place.

It's easy to open a door, sit down, insert a key, twist it, move a lever, move another lever, and spin a dial. It's not even your car, they're just all the same.

It's less complicated than unlocking a phone, finding the settings, figuring out where the internet option is, learning what scan does, seeing the results of scan, figuring out which one yours is, finding the string of characters that is your password, and then doing this whole process over on an entirely different operating system with different required steps.

Cool. I guess I should go and drive and just keep my feet on the gas pedal at all times since cars are that easy to operate.

You could. That is an option you can use to operate a vehicle. It's not inherently wrong, since it was designed to be operated that way.

"at all times"

If we want to get pedantic, the finitude of life, the universe, and everything mean that nothing can ever truly be done "at all times." The fact that you'd explode and therefore stop holding down the gas pedal is just another example of the implicit exceptions inherent in every single use of that phrase.
