Is Parasite really the first foreign language film to win Best Picture? Does The Artist not qualify? It is a French movie, whose initial release in its country of origin features dialogue which is almost entirely in French (the French version has French intertitles, it's not just the English ones subtitled.) It's just that the dialogue is written out and not spoken. The version we got in America was, essentially, a dub, but due to the nature of the film the dub is essentially seamless, so no one watching it realizes that's what it was.* But congrats to Parasite!
