it's about a college age bookworm who died and get reincarnated into a medieval fantasy world as a little girl and use her adult 21st century knowledge to live in that world and inventing books.

so far there is no isekai cliche like OP powers or all the demon lord shit. it's just a girl born into poor family in a world where books are expensive luxury and she wants her book. she use her knowledge of modern world to create products that she sells. it's grounded, it's the isekai i always wanted. like slice of life of how modern person with culture shock in pre-industrial era.

the worldbuilding is tight and in small scale (like learning the structure of society, the politics and govermental / trade system and how the magic works)

there are magical stuff, like magic trees, but so far there isn't even your typical stereotypical videogame monsters. there are magic creatures but it feels like it really a part of flora in that world that occur naturally instead of your videogame world. the show treats the world like an actual world instead of videogame stand-in.

i do sincerely hope it doesn't turn into your typical isekai defeating evil lord or something. something happened in last episode the main character is actually OP, and she force chocked a head priest using her immense mana.

but i do hope the plot still stays the same and the OP magic powers stays in the background and not straight up for combat. like negotiating leverage to help myne navigate the political/economical perils of this world.

i can get behind of "big scale" plot as in myne slowly grow up and become influential figure of this world because of her powers and knowledge, but not like your usual isekai story defeating demon lord or something. more like the end she will be the person who instigate cultural revolution of this world, abolishing nobility and the unfair system. helping manage the country's economy and basically helped the world enter industrial revolution.

also shield hero fucking sucks. one of the most idiotic cast of characters ever. started out pretty decent until the idiot creepy lolis especially the dumbfuck bird comes in.

also literally everyone in the world aside from naofumi have IQ below 60 especially the other heroes.

i haven't watched cautious hero. i dunno it feels like other isekai with new gimmick isntead actual attempt of storytelling and worldbuilding using the concept of "reincarnated/transported to other world"

but i do like konosuba and aware of the comparison. i might check it out.

i will give series a point in giving us a break from the overly too good protag but in terms of evil mc this is tame since only his npc are true evil and he rarely does edgy evil things now for the healing hero now there is a true over the top evil edgy MC and boy i can't wait when the anime arrives these board will be on fire across the internet

Isekais when they don't pull the usual "MC is super powered and has a harem of thots behind him" are nice, since there's very few exception where those cases are fun or well written.

The only flaw I can find about the mc is that when it comes to get obsession with books, her rationalisation flies out of the window and she forgets everything Benno taught her & makes the dumbest choices.

I never got the appeal for this. It mightve been kind of cool when it came out but looking back its almost as generic as SAO just with a more competent protagonist. Maybe its the madhouse animation?

The animation, the art, the characters, the comedy, the world-building, and (IMO) most importantly: the sheer creativity in all of the different games/battles that they took part in. The fact that all of them were so different from each other and all of them were so interesting was a big part of what made the show fun for me to watch. To this day, the materialization word chain battle against Jibril is one of my favorite anime battles of all time.

NGNL isn't a perfect show by any means, but out of the shows I've given a 9/10 on MyAnimeList, it may have come the closest to getting a 10 instead.

I expected it to be logical with insane mind games but other than the first card game the battles are just your typical shounen "whoever is the most hot-headed and passionate" wins and pulling out bullshit to justify it. It's a problem when I believe Jojo had more reasonable battles.

We must have different preferences, because that was part of why I loved it. Yeah they won with asspulls, but the sheer creativity of the games also led to creativity behind the different asspulls. It was like if Yami Yugi knew the equivalent of "use my catapult turtle to launch my dragon champion at your floating castle but only knock off its flotation ring so it falls and crushes all of your monsters below it" for every kind of game imaginable.

I get what you're saying and why someone might not like that. We all have different preferences and that's totally fine. I respect that.

Also I hate Jibril.

I change my mind, that's just objectively shit taste and you should feel ashamed. I'm kidding. But she is best girl though.
