This. Love how people get so upset when people get mad that a character can't be gay because it's literally not in their character. Like after years of plot development and everything. They're just as bad (and in the above case sometimes worse) than people who don't want their characters in that light.

That could be part of it, but if you look at Indiana Jones you see a romanticism of the white anglo-saxon protestant culture of the early 20th century. His sense of morality being projected into his work isn't that shrouded in secrecy, it's just a lot easier to dismiss it in Star Wars because space magic.

So no shit he doesn't like his characters being associated with homosexuality.

That's really fucked up to force a character's orientation to force your agenda, I can't believe the gay community would do this

Depending on the context this is actually plausible in reality.

Throughout the trilogy you could totally tell that Poe & Finn wanted to buttf*** each other.

part of the reasons its not an uncommon response is because the freaks of a fanbase take the fanfics to unintended cringy levels of ridiculousness that can actually threaten a series' marketability if spotlighted

and a creator of a franchise is naturally going to want to protect that bottom line; why wouldn't they...?
like im not a fan of Lucas, but gettin defensive of his baby is pretty typical of a creator

It's well known Lucas is anti gay. he used to have a rule that nobody in the star wars galaxy was gay. homosexuality simply didn't exist. by order of Lucas
