Intelligence Committee voted on the articles, Judicial Committee voted to move forward, now all it needs before it goes to the Senate is a full House vote

A few Democrats might wobble on the full House vote, but it should pass.

But that is where it ends. Mitch McConnell and other Senate Republicans have already openly indicated that there's zero chance of Trump being removed from office. Even if, in private, some acknowledge that Trump abused the Office their public stance is in lockstep with Mitch. The truth is that the average Republican voter in many states just doesn't care because Trump is 'their' guy.

^This.

The Republicans have long since demonstrated that they're "Party over country".

Yes he is probably going to get impeached

However there will be no consequences because conservatives are spineless.

And most of America doesn't care

Probably, though keep in mind this is just the House, and the Senate Republicans are already lining up some truly shady **** to stop it there.

Though things have started looking weird in the House. This set of articles doesn't seem to reference the Mueller Report, and now people are talking about doing something with that. Does that mean a second impeachment, or withdrawing this one and doing a new set instead? I don't know, and it doesn't sound like anyone else does either.

our only hope is that this and the rest of his actions in office tank his approval rating enough to prevent him getting re-elected

I really don't want to have to deal with the harm caused by another 4 years of this schmuck, especially since he won't have to worry about re-election. not to mention the smug, insufferable gloating from his supporters.

Impeachment basically means "officially investigating/voting on if they should be removed from office"

Though the word is often used by some to mean "removed from office too", but that's not really what it means.

Not unless the Senate Republicans find a reason to get his dick outta their mouth.

Republicans would have to vote based on reality and not party affiliation.

When the impeachment proceedings reach the Senate, they will publically investigate him and make arguments about whether he should be removed. Basically the Republican senators will state that they are ok with Trump (and any future president, but we all know they're hypocritical sacks of shit) committing crimes and abusing his power.

Even if impeachment accomplishes nothing, it kind of had to be done. He blatantly broke the law. It's Congress' duty to do something about that.

Yeah, I can get behind that. If they can prove impropriety then I say just hold his feet to the fire even if it doesn't go all the way through. That way it also exposes how much the party is willing to let slide in the name of keeping themselves in power. There will be long-term consequences for that.

I don't like using an impeachment proceeding as a politicizing tool but, honestly, the Republicans have basically forced it to be such thanks to their willful ignorance and pushback against the president's dubious conduct.
