Actually learning that this pokemon doesn't have a story is more of a plus than anything else Ive heard. I'll take zero story over sun and moons stop every minute for a cutscene where they talk about light story anyday.

Again, I'd be fine if the storyline areas were cut and replaced with storyless areas for me to just explore.

But the story wasn't the only thing cut, all the extra locations that would go with them were also cut.

And what storyline they did put in is barebones and makes absolutely no sense.

It feels like a lot of people don't seem to care much about the story in the mainline Pokemon games. It's starting to become like the Mario platformers in that regard - you don't play Mario for the story (what little it has), it's all about the gameplay for Mario platformers.

With the mainline Pokemon games, people seem to play those for the gameplay, exploring a new region, or trying out the new Pokemon introduced.

From what I could tell, Sun and Moon's story was largely a big hit with the fanbase. Nebby and Lillie were popular characters.

Lillie/Lusamine/Gladion/Guzma all great, plus a few cool Trial Captains & Kahunas (mainly Mallow/Mina/Nanu)... and then there was also Plumeria - and Team Skull in general were an enjoyable kind of dumb

... Team Yell is not an enjoyable kind of dumb. Took me a while to pick a side on if I like them or not, but in the end I'm a no - Piers is cool tho, but I'm not sure if he is even Team Yell really?

It was enormously popular on the story front. SunMoon is the only pokemon game I haven't played at all (had lost all interest in handheld games by the time it came out), yet I could still tell you basically everything about it, and I can't name a single character from anything else past RBY except....Cynthia? For some reason I remember Flannery.

She's liked for her radiant personality.

She had a Torkoal, right? I think that was the pokemon I was most interested in that gen.

The characters in this have the potential to be great, too. Imagine if Nessa had any actual content. Or Milo! Opal gets a tiiiiiiny bit. Would be wonderful if there had been anything for them outside of the gyms. As it is, there's tons of promise in the very short interactions you have, then it's just empty. They seem so fun, it's damn shame! Gordy doing that backflip, rad. I shouldn't come out of a Pokmon game saying "boy, sure hope fanfiction picks up the slack".

Yeah, Marnie is perfect, but the number of interactions you have can literally be counted on one hand, and the ruckus causing team literally has her face on fucking towels.

I wish we had more with Marnie. Seemed like an actual cool character.

So I've found that if you set a link code, your stamps refresh nearly constantly, so it makes searching for raids much easier. I've also found that fuck all you assholes who are connecting online while you do your den resetting to farm for specific raids.

You coordinate a Link Code with your trade partner and just both trade under that code

if you come up with something not unique enough (like 1111) you'll likely get your trade intercepted by other people trying to link up

My friend suggested a 6969 code and we most definitely did not connect with each other, lol. Regardless, with link codes it's best to also tell the person your in-game trainer name and be sure to check the Pokemon's summary page.

my go-to is usually positional patterns rather than picking number values of significance

so like bottom-left, left, right, top-right... otherwise known as 7463 (or on numpad it would be 1469 whatever)

if you select a spot in your box without a pokemon (or change the view to just see the pokemon's image instead of stats), you'll see the person's name your trading with in the top-right

Where can you get more apples after the first? My friend has Shield and said shed do it later today if you still need it/if shes far enough to get more.

On Axew Island in the wild area, extra apples have a chance of spawning around the tree. It's not a guaranteed spawn every day though, sometimes it's just fancy apples.

I used like 30 wishing pieces on a den where G-max Machamp could supposedly appear and nothing. In fact I still havent seen more than 3 G-max Raids in my game and Ive seen maybe 5 total despite spending probably 40 hours alone in Raid fights

Ive been online all of that time. Its just laughably awful trying to find anything at all unless you have mountains of Switch friends. I can be connected Online on Pokemon for like 5 hours straight hitting Seeking every now and then and maybe see 5 Raids pop up at best. Its just inexcusable that you cant refresh stamps at will

It shouldn't require that extra hassle. It should just....work.

It's frankly embarrassing where Nintendo is with online. At $20 a year, it shouldn't STILL feel like the worst value of any console's online.

So do I just go to a Raid, set a Link Code once and then magically start seeing tons of Raid stamps after? I mean Ive been seeing stamps all the time without one, but theyre rarely ever for a Raid and 99% of the time when they are theyre not even actually active

Open a trade or trainer card trade with a link code set, then the stamps will refresh regularly.

Furthermore, change the stamp you're searching for to seeking, then it only shows raids.

Seeking is the only real filter Ive ever used. Doing the above actually seems to work though even if you have to cancel your seeking every time you join a raid. Still feels like unneeded extra hoops for something that shouldve been made far simpler
