Thats not the only problem. The other problem is what to label stuff as. And labeling wrong can get you charged with a $42,000 fine. And I wont be paying that. Mainly because I cant. And if I do label stuff for kids, it makes it impossible for friends to find my channel or videos without a link. And my videos arent searchable. And comments are disabled. If I wanted to talk to my friends about the game, I wouldnt be able to on YouTube under for kids.

Also, you can still promote and get ads/money from YouTube. As long as the content isnt for kids...

then don't fucking label your stuff for kids, it's not hard dude

this youtube change literally affects a very small amount of creators, and it's mostly creators who no one wants anything to do with

and no one is going to get charged with a $42,000 fine. the most that's going to happen is you get a video removed, or a strike on the channel.

Its not that easy. You have to label it correctly. But nobody knows how to. Animation and video games are for kids. But mature games are not. But they cant tell if its mature from the thumbnail. So, what do you label it as. You could probably label it correctly, and fight it in court. But that still eats up time. And money, if you get lawyer. And its not youtube thats fining people. Its the FTC or whatever. Who plans on doing it. They even sued YouTube for 170 million recently. It actually affects everybody...

no, it is literally that easy.

you decide what you label it is, and no, youtube already knows that not all animation is for kids. so you literally don't label it for kids, and it wont get pushed to kids. you would then be fine. youtube cannot tell you what to label your video as, it's entirely up to you.

if you do label something that decidedly isn't for kids, like someone playing dead space, then yeah, that video will be getting taken down.

and the ftc can fine you. the odds of them doing that are slim unless you repeatedly try and break the rules.

what actually prompted the ftc to fine google was the fact that youtube collected data on children, and pushed predatory videos and ads to them. like they literally praised to clients that they were popular with children, and when asked how they were complying with coppa guidelines they were silent. turns out they were violating that shit hella hardcore. thus, they were fined.

again, don't label your videos for children and you are fine. this is a complete non-issue.

It's pretty easy when you understand how law works.

You make a video and mark it as you see fit, if they complain you indicate how you marked it. Until they create guidelines, they basically have to accept your defense unless they have good reason to believe you are acting with malicious intent.

Basically you're fine unless you're trying to skirt the law so you can target ads at vulnerable people.

again, don't label your videos for children and you are fine. this is a complete non-issue.

instead of watching a fear mongering video that says youtube is gonna kill you, which always happens after youtube makes changes even if it's something as stupid as changing the layout of something, actually read the results and requirements of this rule change. it's not hard to understand, and it doesn't mean more than it does.

YouTube doesnt care. The FTC are the ones who care. And, unlike YouTube, they dont understand. When looking at the guidelines or rules for COPPA, in a video slacker posted, they mentioned what things count as Child approved. There is a slight problem, though. Which is its way too vague. And we label it. But if the FTC disagrees, then you get in trouble. Youtube is basically putting the blame on the creator now...

And they did say if you abuse it, youll get in trouble. So, i figure if a couple are wrong out of a ton, you should be fine. But I cant say for sure...

Yeah. And youtube knows they screwed up. But thats why theyre making it so that the creators can take the blame now...

Also, from what I heard, it goes both way. If you label it for children and its not for them, you get fined. But I believe they also said if you label it not for children and it is, you also get fined. The problem is figuring out what is for children...

And I watched multiple videos. Some were fear mongering. But others were calm. And one was by YouTube explaining the change. I still have to see the full FTC one. Ive seen parts. But not the whole thing yet.

They do have guidelines of some kind. But theyre vague and not exactly right. Things like video games and animation are said to be for kids. Or if theyre are cartoons, or have toys in theyre likeness. And stuff like that. Its basically makes it to where most things could be considered for kids. Which contradicts things like game ratings. I dont see the monetization as the problem. The monetization wont really matter as much since the for kids stuff wont have ads, anyway. But they are making all creators choose whether kids of not, AFAIK. According to youtube. And Im not sure if the FTC really cares if youre making money or not...
