I'm a huge fan of Square and Final Fantasy games. I pre-ordered and couldn't wait to play FF13 when it was announced. When it came out, I played it for about 4-5 hours and was completely disappointed and thought it was an awful game especially by FF and Square standards. You know what I did after? I put the game away and never played it again nor did I come to a websight to complain about it non-stop and want Square to die as company and stop making FF games.

You guys get one game you don't like and you act like it's the end of the world. Skip this one. Hopefully the next one will meet your "reasonable" standards.

Because people were gladly buying up the same damn game up until sword and shield, and only really wanted a new mechanic to spice it up. Now, for the first time in the series history youre starting to see a mass of people who are fed up with the laziness and stagnation.

But, until the game releases its all talk. Its going to sell like gangbusters and review really well. It always does. Id love to be be proven wrong but I have a good feeling I wont. So you tell me. You really think Pokemon fans are that eager for change that this game will sell and review poorly?

To be fair, if Sword and Shield does poorly (by pokemon standards, we're talking ~8 million), it will almost definitely result in the next games being a superior product. If the games sell well by pokemon standards, it will most likely result in the next games also being bad.

To have any measure of notable objectivity on this, you'd need some stats on popularity by mon. I can tell you that any of the Kanto starters are more popular than most of what got in, but only the Charmander line made it into the game.
