Almost all of Yangs 4%+ polls have been random non counting polls. And he's put up 3% in like 10 polls that count. It's going to take a nice November debate bump to qualify for December I think. I know he's been expanding his number of offices as well, but that additional ground game hasn't translated to % yet.

Edit: And Klobuchar qualified for December because they gave her sooooo much speaking time in October. This is awful news.

One of my favorite things is the weird tension between the openly bigoted alt-right and the new right which is still just as bigoted but wants to be sly about it to be more effective

this is the wrong framing

the alt-right isn't openly bigoted, but they are openly don't-give-a-shit-if-you-call-them-bigoted. to the uneducated, that might seem like the same thing, but it really isn't.

Kirk and Shapiro and Crenshaw and everyone else are just the same sad sack neocons we've always had. They aren't any different than Mitt Romney in the sense that if you call them a racist, they immediately abandon all logic, reason, and principles and will say or do or offer you absolutely anything to stop calling them mean names.

I don't know much of anything about him, really. The "controlled opposition" theory seems plausible enough. On the other hand, a bunch of people I follow used to re-tweet him quite a bit and it seemed like he had some reasonably intelligent takes (although some garbage ones too, to be sure).

I saw the CNN interview. She's pretty great yeah. I'm still hopeful he'll be regularly polling 5% by mid December, but these large debate fields do not work in his favor. I was really pleased with his initiative in the October debate and I hope he has a similar performance in 2 weeks.

And I hope the moderators realize that Klobuchar isn't bringing anything to the table so they shouldn't give her almost 15 dang minutes.

https://www.nytimes.com/2019/11/07/world/europe/ukraine-trump-zelensky.html

KIEV, Ukraine It was early September, and Ukraines new president, Volodymyr Zelensky, faced an agonizing choice: whether to capitulate to President Trumps demands to publicly announce investigations against his political enemies or to refuse, and lose desperately needed military aid.
Only Mr. Trump could unlock the aid, he had been told by two United States senators, and time was running out. If the money, nearly $400 million, were not unblocked by the end of the fiscal year on Sept. 30, it could be lost in its entirety.
In a flurry of WhatsApp messages and meetings in Ukraines capital, Kiev, over several days, senior aides debated the point. Avoiding partisan politics in the United States had always been the first rule of Ukrainian foreign policy, but the military aid was vital to the war against Russian-backed separatist forces in eastern Ukraine, a conflict that has cost 13,000 lives since it began in 2014.
By then, however, Mr. Zelenskys staffers were already conceding to what seemed to be the inevitable, and making plans for a public announcement about the investigations. It was a fateful decision for a fledgling president elected on an anticorruption platform that included putting an end to politically motivated investigations.
Elements of this internal Ukrainian debate have appeared in the Ukrainian news media and seeped into congressional testimony in the United States, as part of an impeachment inquiry undertaken after accusations surfaced of Mr. Trumps demands.
But interviews in Kiev with government officials, lawmakers and others close to the Zelensky government have revealed new details of how high-level Ukrainian officials ultimately decided to acquiesce to President Trumps request and, by a stroke of luck, never had to follow through.
Aides were arguing in favor of bowing to what was demanded, said Petro Burkovskiy, a senior fellow at the Democratic Initiatives Foundation who has close ties to the Ukrainian government. They were willing to do so, he said, despite the risk of losing bipartisan support in the United States by appearing to assist Mr. Trumps re-election bid. The cost was high.

...

Finally bending to the White House request, Mr. Zelenskys staff planned for him to make an announcement in an interview on Sept. 13 with Fareed Zakaria, the host of a weekly news show on CNN.
Though plans were in motion to give the White House the public statement it had sought, events in Washington saved the Ukrainian government from any final decision and eliminated the need to make the statement.
Word of the freeze in military aid had leaked out, and Congress was in an uproar. Two days before the scheduled interview, the Trump administration released the assistance and Mr. Zelenskys office quickly canceled the interview.

Zelensky was scheduled to deliver the quo (the statement of investigation into Biden). If word of the freeze hadn't leaked, Trump would have gotten away with it.
