It took a little while, but after nineteen failed attempts, Aerith finally gets off the schneid and breaks through for a top 10. That's not to say that she hasn't done well in those other contests, though, as she rises 1.68% to 62.08% and two spots to 28th in the STATS. She's been a bit more consistently good in the new era, where she climbs 3.67% to 68.31% and five spots to 18th.

That was a long time ago! I forget how long you were gone exactly, but a few years back I replayed almost the entire series and changed my opinion about VII. Went from disliking it to thinking its pretty good. I still dont enjoy most of the Midgar section though. It gets better after that especially since you get Cid and Yuffie who are top 3 in the game for me (Barret is the other).

There is so much weird shit in that game, I love it. Probably another thing the remake will remove or sanitize.

But it also inherently doesn't make sense, did Hojo know Red was an intelligent creature? Isn't it just as likely that (as he feigns to do) Red XIII will attack/kill Aeris? Not really a position you'd want to put your only Cetra into.

Edward is Meteor. Lightning is Holy (figuratively and literally a divine goddess)

(okay Lightning is also the lifestream, I guess, to really make the analogy work)

A "save 7 cuz it's 7" is a pretty weak pitch since someone is either already going to do that or not care anyways.

I mean. Ive said VII should stick together for years.

It helped Cloud get a Title.

And it helped us get Vincent, Seph, Tifa and Barret crazy high in that time frame.

If people stuck together slightly more on it, in a span of 5 years we could probably get every single VII major main (except Cissnei, unfortunately) that people have to top 4 minimums at least once

While we're on the topic of Red XIII lore, for those not already in the know - check this interesting sub-plot that might have given Red some more screen time. It's stayed with me ever since I read it, as I find it vaguely disturbing; I doubt it will be in the remake.

Red XIII was planned to be the focus on a cut sub-plot. After being captured by Shinra, Hojo would have produced several clones of Red XIII, which would have had blue and purple fur and been named Cobalt XIV and Indigo XV, respectively. After defeating them, the party would be confronted by two more clones, and a battle would ensue where the party would fight both the clones and the real Red XIII, and be forced to figure out which was the real thing and avoid killing him. Though the clones would be defeated, Red XIII would have the party spare them, as they were the last of his kind beyond him. Cobalt XIV and Indigo XV would later reappear in the final dungeon partially mechanized, determined to prove themselves superior to the original Red XIII.

Well his father in law did cast meteor but it was way less effectivr than in ff7
