The few other times were mostly borderline cases that I would have said shouldn't have counted, but which were generally understandable from the mod perspective. Dikitain 11/01/19 11:16:35 PM #7:	So if there is one thing I have learned after becoming a moderator it is that most people who complain about moderations really don't understand why they were moderated in the first place. Sure, a lot of that falls on us for not giving clear explanations about things we moderate (and there are discussions between the moderators on how best to do that) but some of that is just people not getting it. For example, they complain that they get moderated for their political beliefs, yet fail to understand that the way they presented those beliefs is what got them moderated in the first place. Like you can be a Trump supporter and not get moderated, but suggesting that everyone who disagrees with you has a made up mental disorder (TDS) is going to get you moderated every time. Also the people who complain they get suspended every time they post something, but fail to realize that their moderation history (and the history of all of their known alts) plays a big part in how severe they get punished for even small transgressions. --- I am a Contract Software Developer. One time, I used the magic R-word (not the one denoting flame resistant material, the other one that there is no warning that it's a magic bad-word) to say a company was...ahem "taping" me financially, and I was hit w/ a moderation for being insensitive to tape victims, even though nothing in my post or the topic in general was about sex that could have confused the context, and I posted a definition of the word in my rebuttal showing it has multiple meanings and I had used it correctly, in the financial sense of the word. Didn't fucking matter, so now to be safe I never use that word and use words like tape instead. Another time, a guy on here said that "Germany lost its way after WW2," and I called him a nazi, and got a moderation for insulting him, which mods refused to overturn. He would respond by calling me a member of the JIDF (which I had to google, but apparently means "Jewish Internet Defense Force"). Which...made my initial reaction even more clearly correct. Neither of his posts was ever moderated. EDIT: I wish you could opt to keep selected moderation offenses forever, I consider the unjust ones badges of pride.
