There's this girl I know on facebook who pretty much on the daily posts about how her dogs made her cry because they're cute.

I don't find it wholesome at this point, especially not when every other post is about how much she wants humans to die. That seems like a goddamn disorder to me.

People who act like their pets are their children are beyond cringe, though. Loving your pets is essential, otherwise why have them? But anybody who goes out of their way to call themselves a parent of their pet, or works their pets into other aspects of their interactions with other people, need to get a fucking hobby.

the value difference between different humans is a much smaller gap than the difference between the value of a human and other animals. there is significantly more loss to someone if they lose their mother or sibling than if they lose their dog. think about it if your mom dies and the kind of impact that can have. now think about if your dog dies. people get several dogs throughout their life (and I know every dog is different, I've had pets). but you only get one mom, and you're not going to get over her the way you get over a dog. because deep inside you know it's not the same

People who call their pets "fur babies" or treat them as children in general are almost always self-identified animal activists and get really worked up over things like outside dogs existing when it's hot or cold outside, but you know what the worst part about those people are?

They're white women 99% of the time, and perhaps because of their outright refusal to take criticism, vehemently deny you when you tell them that their pure bred pug, yorkie, english bulldog, wiener dog, other small dog and etc is a complete fucking abomination and goes against any argument that they ever make about why they love animals so much, because most of these small dogs, and especially pugs, are horribly, horribly inbred and suffer their entire lives from genetic disorder

I'd totally save my pets, who I love, before a stranger. Of course, I'd rather save both but I can't let somebody or something I love die when I have a chance to save them.

Sure, letting somebody else die is horrible, but so is letting the animal die. It's a terrible situation, but I'm being honest when I tell you that I'd act selfishly.
