Youre right. Saving something that has loved you and you have an emotional connection to vs something you dont. Your mother or Bill Gates? Your sibling or a doctor? Its not about the innate value of the person being saved. Its about how much they mean to the person saving. The assumption that just because the baby is a human and that they should have higher value or importance than someones own pet is ironically egocentric and lacking in empathy. Thats why this your dog or baby scenario is stupid. Yall are purposefully being obtuse just to appear on a moral high ground when most people would just buck it anyway. --- A show of kindness may not do much help, but a show of cruelty may do much harm. ...
