Caster is rapidly running out of other people to kill. Time to skedaddle! You don't think you have a good chance at tricking a Caster, so you'll go with the ol' vision-obscuring illusions again. You whip up some fire this time...another set of Keys whip past your head as you dash towards the stairs, so maybe it's working. But it looks like Caster has a bead on you....gunfire? Something ahead of you shoots, and glances off of Caster. He's laser focused on you and Berserker right now though, and hurls bolts of energy into the confusion. One catches Berserker square in the back- he's still up, but he's hurt pretty badly.

The bracers have intensified further, and magical energy swirls around Caster. You're going to have trouble evading whatever this is, with Berserker struggling to find his feet. Caster starts shrinking! You lose track of him in your illusory fire, but that might be for the best.

1) Hide in the illusions

2) Keep exiting, past whoever that was that was shooting
a) ...Trying to illusion past them
b) ...Trying to talk to them
c) ...Attacking them

3) See if maybe Caster and his Master are vulnerable now
a) ...sneaking through the illusions
b) ...dropping the illusions

4) Double back and try to shank Assassin's Master and/or unconscious body

It is time to go, man. You have a complicated plan in mind, so you drop the fire and instead go to one of your favorite tricks- a stampede of illusions running in concert with you and Berserker- some looking like you in case they know you, and some looking like others in case they don't. You run past two people, who look confused but don't react in time to stop you. There's a young girl with some sort of large shooting weapon, and a middle aged man behind her. Let's not deal with that right now, and say we did. You're probably home free after making it past those two, but you know better than to take chances.

"This is all your fault!" declares Assassin's Master. "Your stupid Phantasm is already out of juice? You were supposed to stop all of this! And what was with that order- were you trying to betray us?"
"My fault?" retorts the fat man. "You stole the ring, didn't you?"
A new voice enters the conversation. "Are we....interrupting something here?" A middle-aged man steps into the scene, accompanied by a girl with a large scythe. "We can....come back later."
The girl waves cheerfully at the Masters. "Hi, we're Team Lancer! It doesn't look like either of you are really in any condition to fight, so why don't you just hand over your valuables and Command Spells peacefully?" The man goes on for a bit about preferring to avoid bloodshed if possible.
Assassin's Master hangs his head and surrenders his Command Spells, but Caster's Master is more defiant. "Screw that! Caster, come back on out!"

There's a knock at the door. Erika looks up from her dinner with some confusion, then signals Archer to be ready to fight just in case. Despite this caution, Erika opens the door a crack. Outside is a pleasantly thick, bespectacled young lady.

"Hello! I'm Caster Agatha Heterodyne, and I'm here to capture you!"

((Erika is an OC btw, not the Gym Leader or anybody else with the name.))

You're back to your temporary home without further incident. Christine has started acting out and getting less stable. She was banging her head against the cave wall when you found her. Phantom got her to calm down, but that's a situation to monitor for the future.

Phantom's going to survive his wounds, but it's probably going to take a bit before he's at 100%. Servants heal unusually quickly, but it'll go faster if you let him rest. You're a competent Mage, so the mana is transferring well enough. Sorry to disappoint anybody looking forward to ReaderxBerserker!Phantom slash. What's the game plan?

1) Lay low and focus on healing
2) Lay low and focus on building up a doll army
3) Get right back into the New Derse scene after a bit of rest
4) Check out Prospit City

fwiw I had an Erika in mind for something, and it certainly wasn't this.

Are healing and army building mutually exclusive here, though? I don't feel like they should be, but if they are I vote 2.

can't build things if you're in Spirit Form imo!

it has not been a good week for doing stuff ~_~

((ah frick I lost the like 25% of an update I had done let's see what I can remember))

You take a day to build up your reserve of dolls, and take Christine out with you to look for trouble. She's not the strongest piece on the board, but she's no slouch in a fight, either, and even leaving Phantom at home you're able to wipe out several squads of soldiers from both sides. You have a sense that somebody is watching you as you start to gather some of the corpses from your latest sortie.

1) Investigate
2) Send Christine to investigate
3) Pretend not to notice and set up a trap
4) CS summon Phantom

You set up a fake patrol of Dersites headed your way- hopefully that will smoke out anybody in hiding, but failing that it should at least be a nice distraction and excuse to hustle back home. Nobody comes out of hiding, but you do see out of the corner of your eye a lone, human-sized figure darting from cover to cover.

1) Lead them back to your base so Phantom can come into play
2) Lead them away from your base to keep it secret
3) Strike first
4) Call them out
5) CS summon Phantom

After a brief runaround, your mysterious stalker decides it's time to strike! (the late) Assassin's Master stumbles out from behind a bush and throws a key, missing wildly. So much for a sneak attack. Christine springs into action, just missing as she slashes at him, and you hit with a quick magical bolt off the distraction. It spooks Christine, and she changes course, instead running for home! She's significantly faster than you.

1) Try to kill the Master
2) Try to subdue the Master
3) Follow Christine

You decide to turn this into a melee. He's got those Keys, but he doesn't seem like a particularly graceful fellow, and you got a clean hit with that shot from earlier. After a brief and ugly scuffle, you land a clean uppercut, knocking him out without a scrape.

1) Wake him up and interrogate him here
2) Back to the lab now that he won't know where it is
3) Eh, just shank him.
